President Vela called the meeting to order. Ms. Bazar moved the
minutes of June 15, 1998, be approved, Mr. Serrano seconded, and
the motion passed.
Ms. Eldridge said a meeting of the Juvenile Curfew & Truancy
Assessment Center subcommittee chairperson, Terry Baiamonte, will
be scheduled in the near future to discuss the RFP. Ms. Bazar said
she has no report on the School/Police Partnership subcommittee
because she has been unable to contact all the superintendents to
present the second formula. Mr. Loeb gave a report on the last
Citizen Advisory Council subcommittee meeting. Mr. Hummel gave a
report on the Street Lighting Project. He said he will be
contacting Dave Seiler, Traffic Engineering, to obtain maps to
assist in the determination of the placement of lights.
Mr. Serrano introduced Scott Leeton who will act as his alternate.
chief Bung gave a report on the canine purchasing process.
Ms. Vela told the Board that the City Council did approve the
budget at their June 16 meeting.
Mr. Harty gave the Treasurer's Report. He distributed a cash flow
report. (Mr. Valencia arrived at the meeting at 3: 52 p.m. )
Ms. Tavarez, County Attorney's Office, said she wanted to introduce
herself to the Board and offer assistance to the Board.

Mr. Martinez addressed the Board with the possibility of providing
copies of the agenda and a copy of the previous minutes to the
public at each meeting.
Ms. Cisneros addressed the Board with the question of what the
Board is going to do to prevent crime. Ms. Vela told her that a
copy of the plan is posted in the City Secretary's office for
public viewing.
The Board scheduled their next meeting for Wednesday, August 5,
1998, at 3 p.m. The joint City Council/Crime Control District
quarterly meeting is pending.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 4:30 p.m.
