MINUTES
CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT
APRIL 28, 1999 - 3 :00 P.M.

The meeting was called to order by President Loeb. Since there
were new board members, Mr. Loeb suggested that members introduce
themselves.
The Board unanimously voted on the following appointments:
Leon Loeb, President
Isaac Valencia, Vice-President
Danny Mora, Secretary-Treasurer
The March 24, 1999, minutes were unanimously approved by the
Board.
The Board discussed at length the funding of the new
administrative position. Mr. Loeb said that the City Manager has
agreed to split the cost of that position (approximately
$25,000/year) . Ms. Banales asked if there has been a motion
before the Board to hire a person for this position. Mr. Loeb
told her that there has been considerable discussion of the
position but no motion to approve the additional position. Mr.
Loeb said he would like to report to the City Council that this
position is an item the Board wants to vote on by the May 25,
1999, joint meeting.
The Board was given an update on projects by Ms. Eldridge.

Ms. Banales suggested that before the Board makes a decision on
the administrative position, it be added to the new budget and
the Board should wait to see if the City Council will approve the
budget with the addition of that line item. Ms. Eldridge
distributed a copy of the job description for the administrative
position. It was suggested that other cities in Texas with Crime
Control & Prevention Districts be contacted to see if they have
an administrative person assisting them.
Mr. Harty gave the Treasurer's Report.
The following meetings have been scheduled:
May 5, 1999, Workshop to discuss budget
May 19, 1999, Regularly scheduled meeting
May 25, 1999, Joint City Council meeting
June 2, 1999, Meeting to adopt budget
Cmdr. Torres discussed the Citizen Advisory Councils. Board
members are encouraged to attend two scheduled meetings: May 5,
1999, 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Holy Cross, and May 13, 1999, 6:30
p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Greenwood Library.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 4: 52 p.m.
