The meeting was called to order at 3:06 p.m., in the Committee Room on the first
floor of City Hall. The first item of business was roll call. Mr. Flemmings, Hernandez
and Sebbert were absent.
A motion was made by Mr. Brogan, seconded by Mr. Shake and passed
unanimously to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. -
The next item was the discussion of the adoption of the 2000 International Codes
starting with Chapter I —Administration. Mr. Sosa stated that the Board had been given
a handout entitled Change Document for The International Codes that is basically a re-
. cap of the major items that would have a substantial impact on the day to day operation.
Mr. Sosa explained that the Board could either review this document item by item or be
allowed time to review it and if there were any questions concerning any particular item
or section number the Board could discuss it. A discussion followed during which Mr.
Sosa went through the list of changes to the Administration Chapter.
After which another discussion followed concerning the changes to the 1999
National Electrical Code.
Under the discussion of old and/or pending business Mr. Shake gave the Building
Official a complaint he had received. Chairman Carranco brought up the subject of a
lighting contractor with only one licensed electrician working for them. He asked staff if
they had any problems with this company. Mr. Lewis stated that it was his understanding

that there were two licensed electricians working for this company, one more frequently
than the other was.
Mr. Budd asked if anything had been done concerning replacing the electrical
inspector position. He stated that this was the only Board in the last three or four years
that voted to raise the permit fees to get an additional position. He added that he was
bringing the subject up now because since we are revising the Administrative Chapter
this would be a good time to recommend that we go back to the old fees. Mr. Sosa stated
that nothing had been done but he intends to make another case for replacing the
` inspector after we have the Development Center.
Mr. Skinner inquired about Mr. Hemandez who was absent last month and again
this month. Mr. Sosa stated that he had not heard anything but he would check.
Mr. Skinner made a motion that Mr. John Bartram be excused from last months
meeting because of eye surgery. The motion was seconded by Mr. Shake and passed
unanimously.
The Building Official's Report was next. Mr. Sosa stated that the Board had been
given a list of current members and which term year they are presently serving. Mr. Sosa
also stated that the Thanksgiving and Christmas season was near. He pointed out that the
November meeting was on the 16th and the December meeting was scheduled for the 21`t.
He then asked if the Board would like to consider rescheduling the December meeting.
After a brief discuss the Board decided to put this item on next month agenda for
discussion.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:36 p.m.
