HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Electrical Advisory Board - 04/18/2002 • City of ELECTRICAL ADVISORY BOARD Corpus Minutes of the Regular Meeting Christi April 18,2002 Board Members Present: Kyle Budd, Chairman Miguel Carranco John Homer Ernest Salazar Charles Sebbert Board Members Absent: Martin Adrian, Vice Chairman Robert Conolly Joe Hernandez Staff Members Present: Art Sosa, Building Official David L. Lewis, Chief Electrical Inspector Betty J. Hines, Secretary Chairman Budd called meeting to order at 3:05 p.m. in the Committee Room on the fust • floor of City Hall. The first item of business was roll call. Mr. Conolly,Adrian and Hemandez were absent. Board member absences was the next item. After discussion on absences,Mr. Homer asked to be excused. Motion to excuse, by Mr. Carranco, seconded by Mr. Sebbert, and passed unanimously. A motion by Mr. Carranco, seconded by Mr. Sebbert to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. The next item was the discussion adoption of the NEC 2002 and Amendment to the Local Electrical Ordinance. David stated that this will be based on review by staff and advisory board and offer some method. There was discussion on Article 210-12 (99) & 210.2 (02). Mr. Sebbert asked a question about GFI. How does the city know if the receptacle AFI is operating. Mr. Lewis mentioned there will be a electric seminar held on Friday,May 31,2002 at the Radisson Hotel. Cost is$170 to $265.00 per person. The next item was the possible action on the board request to amend Section 108.2.7 - Suspension or Revocation of Rights,citation in Chapter 1 Administration-Tabled until next month meeting. Mr. Budd asked Mr. Sosa is he asking for language on this article from this board. Mr. Sosa will back a draft proposal from the Legal Department. • SCANNED PU. Mr. Sosa talked about the move to the Frost Bank in August or September 2002,more details by the July meeting. Discussion was made replacing the lost electrical inspector. Discussion was made also on the landscaping and the furniture at the new location. The board asked if there is anything they can do to assist the process. Under the discussion of old and/or pending business to be placed on the future agenda. Mr. Budd brought up an item about Service Entrance Conductors that was discussed sometime in October 2000. Question asked:what is the nearest point of attachment: service of disconnect,where to place the disconnect. Motion made by Mr. Budd, seconded by Mr. Carranco to take off the table and put back on the agenda for possible action. (NEC 230.70-A&NEC 230-2) The next item of business was petition from the audience. Mr.David Eicher with Sam's Sign Company. He is complaining that there are many contractors doing work without licenses. They are underbidding him for jobs. Too much bootlegging is going on in the city. Question was made to Mr. Sosa about having someone doing weekend inspections. Mr. Sebbert asked if we have a solution? • Mr. Sebbert made motion to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Carranco and passed unanimously.
