HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Electrical Advisory Board - 09/18/2003 Cl Of ELECTRICAL _ Corpus llS ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES • ChrSEPTEMBER 18, 2003 Board Members Present: Kyle Budd, Chairman Miguel Carranco Charles Sebbert Joe Hemandez Shane Torno Martin Adrian Board Members Absent: Robert Conolly John Homer Ernest Salazar Staff Members Present: David L Lewis, Electrical Team Leader Joseph Harney, City Attorney Julie McCoy, Recording Secretary Chairman Kyle Budd called the meeting to order at 3:15 p.m. The first item of business was roll call. Robert Conolly, John Homer, and Ernesto Salazar were absent. The next item of business was approval and or correction of the minutes from the previous meeting (September 18, 2003) Motion made by Martin Adrian and seconded by Charles Sebbert to accept the previous minutes as submitted. The next items of business: • (a) Chapter 1 reading was accepted by City Council on September 2, 2003. (b) March through June of 2004 will be opening time for people to apply for the Grand fathered Electrical license. September 2004 is the date, in which all persons must have a State License with exceptions as listed. (c) TDLR has board membership applications for anyone interested in joining the Advisory Board. Advisory Board applications can be downloaded from the official website (license.state.tx.us). (d) Several questions were asked during the meeting. Will municipal testing still be offered? Answer: It is possible that we will no longer offer testing. Will local tests be eliminated and just accept the State test? Answer: Same as above. Is there is a possibility that municipals can cut costs by not having tests? Answer: Yes, that is possible. We do plan on starting a registration system for all•electricians. Answer: No, that structure will be modified to adjust to the state standards. Will there be different classifications? Answer: We will have classifications based on the structure of the state standards. The next item of business was the Building Official's Report: There was none. The next item of business was old items to be put on future agendas: The second reading of the Administration Chapter was passed and became effective on October 9, 2003. The next item of business was any new or pending items: November and December's board meeting were discussed. Since the Electrical Advisory Board meeting is not affected by Thanksgiving, it will be held as scheduled. December's board meeting will need to be discussed at the next meeting. Mr. Shane Tomo asked to be excused for his absence during the last meeting. Motion was made by Kyle Budd and seconded by Miguel Carranco to excuse Mr. Tomo's absence. • The next item of business was petitions from the audience. None were present Motion made to adjourn by Chairman Budd.
