Sebbert Robert Conolly Board Members Absent: Joe Hernandez John Homer • Shane Tomo Staff Members Present: Joseph Harney, Assistant City Attorney David Lewis,Electrical Team Leader Julie McCoy, Recording Secretary CALL TO ORDER Chairman Kyle Budd declared a quorum and called the meeting to order at 3:12 p.m. ROLL CALL The first item of business was roll call. Joe Hernandez, John Homer, and Shane Tomo were absent. *Chairman Kyle Budd asked for a moment of silence in memory of Robert Shake and Tom Chumey. EXCUSED ABSENCES Martin Adrian asked to be excused for his previous absence. A motion was made by Robert Conolly and seconded by Charles Sebbert to excuse Mr. Adrian's absence. The motion carried. SCANNED N APPROVAL OR CORRECTION OF MINUTES—July 15, 2004 Correction to the minutes: 1. The approval or correction of minutes should have read April 15, 2004. 2. David Lewis, Electrical Team Leader, made reference to an error on page three of the minutes. The first paragraph under agenda items should read: An inspector's interpretation is that a clothes closet is not in a bedroom. If the switch is turned in to face the inside of the clothes closet, then that particular outlet is not in the bedroom any longer, and it would not have to be protected by arc fault. 'Corrections to the paragraph are italicized. • A motion was made by Martin Adrian and seconded by Robert Conolly to accept the minutes with necessary corrections. The motion carried. LATEST INFORMATION ON STATE LICENSING- By: David Lewis, Electrical Team Leader • License holders must acquire four hours of continuing education per year • Each credit hour must be no less than sixty minutes long • The list of recognized providers would include Technical Schools, Trade Union training programs, and private individuals who met TDLR qualifications. By: Joseph Harney, Assistant City Attorney • TDLR office is not going to infringe in municipality differences in opinion AGENDA ITEMS Discussion and possible action on Mid Year Ordinance Amendments This topic will not be discussed at this time. We would like to discuss this at a meeting where the Architects, Electrical Contractors, Home Builders, etc will be present. We will solicit for a recommendation in August. y 71/ QUESTIONS ASKED BY BOARD MEMBERS Are we closer to seeing contractor's registered? At the present time, the State is issuing contractor licenses and the City is recognizing those licenses and registering Electrical Contractors based on those state issued licenses. Are we allowing State Master's? No, the State Electrical Contractor License holder's registration is the minimum requirement to obtain permits. Will we get CEU's for the Brown Bag Session? Yes, we could if we get everyone registered. We could partner up with ABC and include the IBEW. This partnership could result in Electricians acquiring the necessary CEU's. BUILDING OFFICIAL'S REPORT-By: Art Sdsa • Wants to bring forward information on swimming pools and listed materials. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS • Liquid Tape no longer being accepted, to seal grounding connections at pool lights. • When is the Electrical Supplier position going to be filled? PETITIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE There were none. ADJOURNMENT A motion to adjourn was made by Miguel Carranco and seconded by Martin Adrian.
