All in favor. Amendments to the 2005 Codes: • Stay the same from 2002 • , Adoption of 2005 NEC Amendment will be in August David Lewis: You will not find 230.7013 in your NEC 2005,therefore we created a 230.70-D to address our fault current requirements, and this is an example of an amendment to the NEC. This particular subject people come to talk about, because not many other cities in Texas who have that level of fault current on non-commercial installation it may be seen more often in commercial electrical design. I went to a CEU training and one of the discussions that was brought forth was; in Dallas conductors can be inside the building up to 100ft front the entrance before there is a main, which in some cases there has been up oft distances being placed in some operations over the years. SCANNED Tabled Item: Practice of Subcontracting Q. Craig Loving—In the Ordinance it states that a Journeyman shall not contract work. Is that correct? A.Gary Smith- The Administrative Code says the licensee must provide the electrical work requiring the license from a license contractor. The requirement to work through a license contractor is in Sec 73.70 in the Texas Administrative Code title 16. Our Ordinance has to match up,therefore when it says a Journeyman can engage in contracting,a Journeyman can not go out and engage in business of designing, the Journeyman has to act under the contractor's license. Q.Tino Vasquez=How do you build up a case in a situation where a Journeyman is working under a contractor's license? A. David Lewis—The first order of business is to seize what work is going on. The city will file a report to make an investigation of the work done, we will contact the people involve in it and issue a field correction notice and the persons involved have to pay the administrative fees. Q. Craig Loving—If a out of town contractor comes in to town and hires one person to over see a large multi building apartment job, this one person puts an ad in the paper, a , license Journeyman answers the ad. Contractor says we will pay you contract labor and you will have a crew of two or three helpers under you,we will pay you an X amount of dollars for each group of units. In your opinion is that legal? A. Gary Smith—Yes Craig Loving tabled the Sub contracting item for the next meeting. Open Meeting Act: Everyone has viewed the video, with the exception of Dan Dibble. Future Agenda Items: Aluminum Wiring—Tino Vasquez will get with Lee Montgomery Building Officials Report: Robert Stoddard—None Adjournment: No further Business. 4:10pm
