Truax Duane Ricketson Phillip Benavides Joe Cantu BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT: Jeanne Sughrue, Chairman Eloy Salazar Michael Dodson Sal Vetrano STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT: John Hudson, Chief Electrical Inspector Grace Amaya, Clerk Typist II Vice Chairman, Ashok Nadkarni, called the meeting to order at 3:15 p.m. , in the Committee Room on the first floor of City Hall. The first item of business was the approval and corrections of the minutes of the prior meeting on October 7 , 1992. A motion was made by Mr. Phillip Benavides, seconded by Mr. Joe Cantu, and passed unanimously to approve the minutes as submitted. Mr. John Hudson, Chief Electrical Inspector, submitted a report of the examination and licensing activity of the previous month, a list of applicant's scheduled for the November 23, 1992 Electrical Exam, and a Monthly Inspection Summary Report for the Board's information and consideration. A motion was made by Mr. W.B. Truax, seconded by Mr. Ricketson, and passed unanimously to concur with the Examination Committee Report. Mr. Ricketson volunteered to assist the examination committee in the Qgrading of examinations for the following month. Mr. Benavides volunteered uJ as an alternate. The next item on the agenda was the review of the grievance filed by Mr. W. H. Rayburn against Charles and Beverly Schultz, Electrical Specialist, Inc. regarding a Master of record. C^) A lengthy discussion followed during which Mr. Rayburn clarified the �/J specific nature of his complaint letter stating that Mr. Lee Montgomery does not work 30 hours a week as required by Ordinance adding that Mr. Montgomery is getting paid $600.00 per month to come in and sign permit applications. Mr. Hudson clarified that Mr. Rayburn's allegation could be partly substantiated by reviewing the contractors affidavit showing Lee Montgomery as Master Electrician for Electric Specialists which is notarized and on file in the Inspection Division office. Mr. Rayburn suggested that the Board also request reports from T.E.C. and the I.R.S. as additional evidence. Mr. Phillip Benavides moved to have staff send a letter to Mr. Richard Beseda, Mr. Lee Montgomery, and Mr. Charles Schultz advising them of the complaint made by Mr. Rayburn and request their presence at the next regularly scheduled meeting on December 17, 1992 to review the complaint. The motion was seconded by Mr. Joe Cantu, and the motion carried. At the Board's request, Mr. Hudson committed to clarifying any discrepancies regarding this matter with the legal department. Under current concerns and events, Mr. Truax informed Mr. Benavides and Mr. Cantu that the Board had recommended at its last meeting the adoption of the 1993 edition of the National Electrical Code.
