Sosa, Building Official John Kendall, Plans Examiner III Andy Lang, Electrical Inspector Jay Reining, Legal Department Bernadine 0. Longoria, Secretary The meeting was called to order by Chairman, Kyle Budd at 3:00p.m. The first item of business was roll call. George Canales was absent. The roll call was amended to reflect that Mike Carranco was present at the meeting of November 18, 1999. The next item of business was the approval andlor corrections of the minutes for November 18, 1999. Changes to the minutes included the following: Minutes were amended to reflect that Mike Carranco was present at the November 18, 1999 meeting. On the last paragraph Ralph Skinner made a motion to table (Table 90-2(b)as written. John Bartram seconded the motion. Motion passed with Joe Hernandez opposing. Willie-Flemmings Ralph Skinner made a motion to table items #230-70 General until legal staff was present. Robert Shake seconded the motion, motion passed. John Bartram made a motion to approve the minutes with amendments. Mike Carranco seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. The next item of business was the discussion of Old andlor Pending business which included a discussion of the recommendation to the City Council to adopt the 1999 NEC with local amendments. Discussions included the following: Item 230-7 was numerated to reflect the NEC Code format. Item 210-7 Receptacles and Cord Connects was accepted as written. SCANNED Page 2 Item-207-44 210-52(d)-Bathrooms re-drafted with a sentence to limit include 3 plugs per bath. Item # 3 was a proposed Section # 210-51 Receptacles required which is a discussion on whether to require a separate plug for every bar sign instead of allowing owners to plugging beer advertisement signs into extension cords. - •- - , - - - - _ - r , The proposal required a minimum of one receptacle installed for every twenty feet measured horizontally around the interior wall at the floor level of each room,seating areas restaurants, taverns, excluding storage rooms. The discussion centered around the notion that no extension cords should be allowed, however, no action was taken by the board pending further discussions with legal. Item #4 210-52 Dwelling Unit Receptacle Outlets Sub section (b) Small Appliances was previously approved by the board accepted as written with not more than 3 per circuit. The next item of business was the Building Official's Report. Art Sosa stated that there were no changes in the software completion date of June,2000. Art also stated that the new NEC Code,would be presented to the City Council in April 2000 if the board and staff agreed on language and revisions. The next item of business was the petitions from the audience. audience, John Hudson, former Chief Electrical Inspector for the City of Corpus Christi was present as a petitioner to discuss temporary lights that are being used in restaurants. He was concerned about the Building Official approving installations that before were considered by staff to be non-conforming.
