ACM Conference Roam-5th Floor City Hall—1201 Leopard Street
The meeting was called to order by Chair Dr. Haysam Dawod at 6:15 pm.
1. Roll Call. Present: Chair Dr. Haysam Dawod;Vice-Chair Karon Connelly, Alicia
Benavidez, Ken Bung, Harry Hallows, Drue Jones, Larry White and Rod Wolthoff.
Absent: Rick Milby. City Staff in attendance: Assistant City Attorney Lisa Aguilar.
2. Discussion and possible action regarding hearing pertaining to ethics complaint filed by
Webster Pell
Assistant City Attorney advised that Councilmember McIntyre had requested postponement due
to receipt of certified letter on March 30, 2016. The Commission reviewed provision in the Ethics
Code for requests for postponement. Motion made by Ms. Connelly, second by Mr. Bung to
continue hearing for period of no more than 15 days from today's date.
3. Public comment. Mr. Webster Pell objected to the postponement; that he received his
notice timely and also he is moving soon out of state. Mr. Pell also stated that it was not
his responsibility to give evidence regarding the complaint;that he had no evidence in the
matter; and that it was the Councilmember's responsibility to prove no violation.
After public comment,the Commission all voted in favor to continue the hearing. Motion passed.
4. Identification of date for next Ethics Commission meeting. The Commission identified
April 11, 2016 at 6:15 pm for the next special meeting to hold the hearing.
5. Identification of items to be placed on the next meeting's agenda: To include definition
of residence for City of Corpus Christi; add item to discuss Ethics Commission information
on the City website home page.
6. Adiournment. Motion to adjourn made by Harry Hallows, second by Rod Wolthoff. All in
favor. Meeting adjourned at 6:40.
The foregoing minutes of the meeting of the Ethics Commission were approved on April 21, 2016, by the Ethics
Commission.
