HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Ethics Commission - 01/21/1999 MINUTES OF THE ETHICS COMMISSION City of Corpus Christi, Texas 5:30 p.m., January 21, 1999 Fifth Floor East Conference Room City Hall - 1201 Leopard The members present were: Chair Augustin Rivera, Jr., Vice-Chair Garry Bradford, Steven Fieldcamp, Cecil Henry, Eduardo Hinojosa, David Longoria, and Frank Tompkins II. Connie Munoz and the Rev. J. Allen Lowe were absent. City Attorney Jimmy Bray was present. The October 14, 1998 minutes were approved as submitted. The Commission considered agenda item#3, the request for attorneys fees by Edward Martin related to the complaint filed by Roy Martinez et al. After discussion, and consideration of letters submitted by the parties, the Commission denied the request for attorney fees. The Commission took up item#4, consideration of Ethics Ordinance, Commission procedures and practices, and possible changes thereto. Commissioners Henry, Lowe, and Rivera volunteered for a subcommittee to study these issues. The Commission took up item#5, scheduling of future meetings. After discussion, the Commission decided to schedule its next meeting in 30 days and the subcommittee meeting in two weeks. The City Attorney's office will call members to set the specific date. The Commission took up item#6, public comment. Bill Kopecky said ethics will be an issue in next campaign. Joe O'Brien complimented the Commission on its attorney fee decision, and said the entire code should be looked at.
