Pollakis stated there was a quorum, and the meeting was called to order at 2:10 p.m.
Pollakis asked for acceptance of the minutes of the previous meeting. Dr. Sisley stated
that there was a grammatical error in the minutes. Pollakis stated that the error would
be corrected, and a motion was made by Dr. Sisley with a second by Gabriel
Hernandez. With a unanimous vote the minutes were accepted.
Eric Cuevas gave the Manger's report. He reported that DSHS staff. from Region
11 presented a refresher course on food handling establishment inspections. The
presentation was very informative, and all inspectors appreciated this refresher course.
Cuevas also informed the Committee the outcome of a conversation with City Legal
Staff concerning the question of a deposit for food handler's CD's used by the public.
Cuevas stated that it was Legal's opinion that by charging a deposit the possibility of the
CD not being returned could be an issue. Cuevas mentioned that since the last meeting
all CD's being used by the public were being returned in a timely manner. It was his
feeling that we should not pursue the issue.
A discussion concerning upcoming meeting dates was presented by Pollakis. Due to
her schedule she mentioned that there would be times she would not be able to secure
a substitute to teach her class, and thus be absent from the meeting. Different dates
and times were presented to the Committee, but there was really no consensus as to a
day and time to change the meetings.
Thequestion of a vice chair was mentioned. Cuevas stated that he would contact the
City Secretary's office and secure the By-Laws for the Committee. There was another
question concerning the number of members the Committee should have, and Cuevas
stated he would check on this matter as well. There being no further business the
meeting was adjourned.
