The meeting was called to order at 4:28 p.m. by Lisa Pollakis-Chair
Manager's Report: Tracey Cantu introduced herself to the committee as the new
Environmental Health Services Manager.
Tracey Cantu informed the committee about the large increase in the number of health
inspection performed due to staff increase. Inspector positions have been filled leaving one
vacancy. Cantu stated that the vacant position is expected to be filled very soon. Cantu stated
that routine inspections had increased and reported the number of complaints received. She
stated that TX A&M would be sending students to ride along with inspectors. Committee
members requested a review of Chapter 19 amendments at the next meeting.
Tracey Cantu informed the committee about the HEB community challenge. The Mayor's office
is participating and would like for city commissions and boards to participate in healthy living
habits. The challenge will end in October.
Mr. Gabriel Hernandez's term expired 6/24/2013 and is not eligible for re-appointment. Mr.
Anthony Hernandez's term expired 6/24/13 and is eligible and interested in being re-appointed
to the committee. Committee members advised of several people that may be interested in
applying with the City Secretary's office for an appointment to the committee. Discussion of
vacancies to be added as an agenda item for October meeting.
General discussion by committee members took place following the report.
Discussion by committee members took place about the new office location. Also mentioned
was member recognition for service.
Without further discussion,the meeting was adjourned at 4:55 p.m. by Lisa Pollakis-Chair.
