HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Food Service Advisory Committee - 10/31/2014 Food Service Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes of October 31, 2014 Members in attendance: Lisa Pollakis-Chair, Manuel Ortega, Carlos Moreno, Dr. Patricia Polastri Staff Liaison: Isidoro Prado, Norma Hughes Ortega moved to call the meeting to order at 2:20 p.m. Dr. Polastri 2nd the motion. Roll call was taken by Norma Hughes(staff). The minutes for the meeting held on April 24, 2014 were read by Ortega. Pollakis-Chair arrived for the meeting at 2:34 p.m. Minutes were made available to Pollakis for her review. Dr. Polastri made a motion to approve the minutes and was 2nd by Carlos Moreno. Discussion took place over the food manager permits. Committee recommended to have the current 2 year permit changed to a 5 year permit as the certificates are good for 5 years from the completion of the course. Prado gave the Manager's report. He stated that Inspector Kalaimani Ponnusamy had passed the sanitarian exam and is now a Sanitarian. He also mentioned about the different training that all inspectors have been receiving. Prado stated that the FDA training hosted at the Health Department was a success. Prado spoke about the increasing problems with identifying service animals. The information provided by FDA is that there are only 2 questions a person may be asked when identifying whether or not it is a service animal. They may be asked if it is a service animal and what service the animal provides for them. Prado mentioned the names of the committee members that were re-appointed to the committee and recognized a new member, Dr. Patricia Polastri. Committee members agreed on a tentative schedule for the Food Service Advisory Committee. November 17, 2014 @ 2 p.m. December 15, 2014 @ 2 p.m. With no further discussion, a motion was made to adjourn the meeting by Moreno and 2nd by Ortega. The meeting was adjourned at 3:20 p.m.
