HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Food Service Advisory Committee - 11/17/2014 Food Service Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes of November 17, 2014 Members in attendance: Lisa Pollakis-Chair, Bobby Boyle, Carlos Moreno, Dr. Patricia Polastri, Anthony Hernandez Staff Liaison: Isidoro Prado, Norma Hughes Pollakis called the meeting to order at 2:03 p.m. Roll call was taken by Norma Hughes(staff). A motion to approve the minutes for the meeting held on October 27, 2014 was made by Moreno and 2nd by Boyle. Prado gave the Manager's report. He reported that TEHA would be holding a training on meat & poultry and another training on pools. He stated that two inspectors would be attending. Prado mentioned that the TEHA South Texas Chapter was seeking nominees for Vice President with a deadline of December 4, 2014. Prado stated that he would be seeking nomination for Vice President. Prado said that the recommendation made by the Food Service Advisory committee to change the Food Managers Permit from a 2 year to a 5 year permit was brought up to Aurora Parlamas. The recommendation is being reviewed to determine if it will be submitted as an item to the City Council for amendment of the current city ordinance. Prado stated that he has been checking with other cities to compare prices. The November Environmental activity report was read out by Prado to inform the committee members of the monthly department activities. He also mentioned that all inspectors have been cross-training for mobile unit inspections. A discussion was held about food establishments with failing scores. Prado mentioned that inspector Liza Salinas had received a letter thanking her for taking the time to educate them about problematic issues in their establishment. Prado stated that Mr. Bakers' position within the committee is still vacant and needs to be filled. Prado said that both city and county food establishment invoices would be mailed out at the end of November. Committee members would like to thank all inspectors for their outstanding service that they provide. Tentative dates for future meetings will be scheduled during the next Food Service Advisory meeting. With no further discussion, a motion to adjourn was made by Moreno and 2nd by Dr. Polastri. The meeting was adjourned at 2:40 p.m.
