Minutes of May 23, 2016 /for approval
Members in attendance: Chair Anthony Hernandez, Carlos Moreno, Manuel Ortega,
Robert Boyle, and George Brown
Members Absent: Dr. Patricia Polastri and Brian Carson
Staff Liaisons: Lauren Rabe and Norma Hughes
Lauren Rabe stated there was a quorum, and the meeting was called to order at 12:00 p.m. A
motion to approve the minutes of the previous meeting . Mr. Anthony Hernandez moved to
accept, with the second by Mr. Manuel Ortega. With an unanimous vote the Minutes of May
23, 2016 were accepted.
Lauren Rabe gave the Manager's report. She reported that the Environmental Division has
issued to the County and City 2,479 Food Establishments, presently 93% has been collected on
Health Permits and 344 Swimming Pools are at 84% collected. Our goals are for the Food
Establishments to comply with TFER and Septic Systems to comply with TCEQ, and continue to
inspect and permit Commercial Swimming Pools.
The Evironmental Division has a new inspector, Nicolas Ridge is an Inspector #1. He has been
training for 2 %z months and now he is doing inspections on his own. Soon by next month, we
should be having another inspector, an Inspector#1.
On April 24-27, 2016, Staff Training for Lauren Rabe, supervisor, Jennifer Richter, inspector 2,
and Ruben Garza, inspector 2, they all took The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality,
Designated Representative Training at San Antonio, Texas.
We received calls from the public and restaurants about the Water Boil Advisory. Guidelines
were issued out to restaurants and the media on what to do during the Water Boil Advisory.
Guidelines consist of the following: Drinking Water, Beverages Made with Water, Ice Making,
Cooking, Handwashing, Cleaning and Sanitizing Tableware and Utensils, Washing/Soaking
Procedure and After the public water system lifts the boil order notice, the retail food
establishment must (list of instructed steps to take)
Our Chair, Mr. Anthony Hernandez term date expires on 6/24/2016. He stated that it had been
pleasant working with everyone and how he had very much enjoyed his term in office with the
FSAC. Dr. Patricia Polastri wants to continue serving in the FSAC. Her term expires in
6/24/2016, but she will continue in the board.
Our next F.S.A.C. meeting is scheduled for June 14, 2016, meeting will start at 2:00 p.m., at
2406 Leopard St., Frost Bank Bldg. With no further discussion, a motion to adjourn was made by
Mr. Carlos Moreno and 2nd by Mr. Robert Boyle. The meeting was adjourned at 12:30 p.m.
