Minutes of Dec. 06, 2016 / for approval
Members in attendance: Chair Dr. Patricia Polastri, Vice Chair Mr. Manuel Ortega,
Mr. Carlos Moreno, Mr. Robert Boyle, and Mr. George Brown
Members Absent: Mr. Brian Carson and Mr. Ted Schroeder
Staff Liaisons: Lauren Rabe and Norma Hughes
Dr. Patricia Polastri stated there was a quorum, and the meeting was called to order at 2:00
p.m. A motion to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Mr. Robert Boyle moved to
accept, with the second by Mr. Carlos Moreno. With a vote the Minutes of Dec. 06, 2016 were
accepted.
Lauren Rabe gave the Manager's report. She reported that the Environmental Division starts a
new fiscal year on October. We report update on our Business Plan Strategies & Tasks more
information on what we do.
Health Permits annual report are 2,497 Food Establishments for City/County that are to be
inspected. New Food Establishments are a count of 226 since Oct. 1, 2016. We have reached a
count of 105 Temp Events for the year. The invoices to all Food Establishments were issued out
for October and November, and sent out renewals last week. We have had 27 Food Handler
Classes, which 100 are for the year. We have 26 Septic applications City/County. The
Swimming Pools billing goes out in March and we collect in April, and have collect 93% on the
billings. There are 10 Supervised Care Centers, which we will work to inspect and make it
randomly to make sure they are in compliance. Foodborne Illnesses complaints, we partner
with PHP (Public Health Preparedness), which they interview the patient, this is done only when
the doctor has diagnosed it.
The Food Manager course with State Food Safety on line is going live in January.
Blanco's Tacos & Brownie Bar were not following the Texas Cottage Law, they were cooking
from their house.
The Environmental Division has two new vacancies. These vacancies are for Inspector 1,
Nicholas Ridge position and a registered Sanitarian, Mani Ponnusamy position. Those job
positions have already been closed.
,ry Our next F.S.A.C. meeting is scheduled for February 07, 2017; meeting will start at 2:00 p.m., at
2406 Leopard St., Frost Bank Bldg. With no further discussion, a motion to adjourn was made by
Mr. Robert Boyle and 2nd by Mr. Manuel Ortega. The meeting was adjourned at 3:00 p.m.
