Haven, Chair, Gabriel Hernandez, Carlos Moreno, William Schroeder, Tom Watson Members Absent: . None . Staff Present: Nina M. Sisley, M.D., Jo Ann Dominguez, Larry Jones D.W. Haven, Chair, called the meeting to order at 2:0.7 p.m. The minutes of the November 20, 2001 meeting were approved as written. Attendance Review: Dr. Sisley went over the attendance sheet with the board members. All members are in good standing. The Board moved to excuse the absence of Carlos Moreno from the November 20, 2001 meeting. Dr. Sisley introduced Jo Ann Dominguez to the Board. E&CHP Report: Larry Jones, Environmental & Consumer Health Protection Manager, went over the food protection activity report for the months of November and December 2001, with Board members Program: Kathy Jansen, President of the Local Chapter, Texas Restaurant Association (TRA), spoke on the mission statement for TRA, which is."to serve as the advocate and indispensable resource for the food service industry in Texas." The www.restaurantville.com allows the TRA to communicate with the industry. On September 6, 2000, the TRA and National Restaurant Association (NRA) entered into a dual membership contract agreement, meaning that ..the members of TRA became members of NRA, and will receive benefits and services of both organizations. In 2001, TRA began the development of a Food Guard,program, which is available on CD. Old Business: Larry Jones informed the board that the "Superior Award"began in January 2002. The award would be issued to the top 10% of restaurants in the city for their superior ratings on restaurant inspections. Carlos Moreno expressed his concern regarding the award. He felt that the Food Service Advisory Committee was overstepping its boundaries by issuing the award. New Business: None. Next Meeting: The next meeting will be held March 19, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. in the Administration Conference Room of the Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District, 1702 Home Road. Board members asked that a food inspector attend the meetings. Larry Jones indicated that he would invite his staff. Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 2:55 p.m. SCA ' Et
