FOOD SERVICE ADVISORY COMMITEE
September 17,2002
Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District
Administration Conference Room
Members Present: Robert Ard, Suzanne Gilliam, John Denson, Gabriel Hernandez, Carlos Moreno,
William Schroeder, and Tom Watson
Members Absent: None
Staff Present: Larry Jones,Annette Rodriguez
Guest: None
Carlos Moreno called the meeting to order at 2:15 p.m. The minutes of the July 16, 2002 meeting were
approved as written.
Attendance Review: All members were present and in good standing. -
E&CHP Report: Larry Jones, Environmental & Consumer Health Protection Manager, went over the
statistics for the months of July and August 2002. Total permits issued 12,816, compared with 11,567
during the same period last year. Approval for food manager's certifications (i.e. a new order requiring
personnel in Nueces County to receive food manager's certification) will be presented to County
Commissioners Court for approval for Nueces County.
Discussion: None
Program: Larry Jones made a power point presentation entitled "Voluntary National Retail Food
Regulatory Program Standards". All members received an outline of the presentation. After the
presentation the members suggested that we should follow through here and implement this program at
our facility. Larry Jones will follow up.

New Business: The committee welcomed•a new board member, John Denson, who is with the Omni
Hotels in Corpus Christi.
Next Meeting: The next meeting will be held November 19, 2002 at 2:15 p.m. in the Administration
Conference Room at the Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District, 1702 Horne Road.
Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 3:05 p.m.
