E&CHP Report: Larry Jones, Environmental & Consumer Health Protection Manager provided his report. Total permits for November and December were up. Temporary permits also up. Food Manager permits and health cards are all higher. Close outs are down compared with a year ago. Food service inspections are down, as the department is one person short. Superior Rating Award: Report presented regarding the superior ratings. A year ago the committee voted to give an award to the top ten percent rated restaurants. Facilities need to be with sit down service and open at least 5 out of 7 days a week. Based on those criteria this report was formed. Some discussion regarding this information followed. A suggestion to abandon the project was made but it was decided to follow through with this project as the restaurateurs had already been informed by way of a letter sent out with the licenses, that the project was planned. Other areas have participated in such a'project and have achieved great success. A decision was made to just take the top ten percent and if this included a cut off in the middle of a"range"that entire range would be included. Discussion: The members discussed posting the top ten percent on the website. Dr. Boostrom indicated she would discuss this with city management. Advisory members felt that this information is public record and should be included on the website. A request was made by Dr. Boostrom to change the meeting to the first Tuesday of every other month to enable the Assistant City Manager to attend the meetings. A motion to make this change was made and approved. Also a request was made to have an inspector at the meetings. Larry said this could be arranged.
