HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Food Service Advisory Committee - 01/06/2004 � i Minutes FOOD SERVICE ADVISORY COMMITTEE January, 6,2004 Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District Administration Conference Room Members Present: John Denson, Gabriel Hernandez,William Schroeder, James D.Robbins, and Robert Ard Members Absent: Suzanne Gilliam and D.W. Haven Staff Present: Larry Jones,Annette Rodriguez,MPH, and Dr. Michael Silvers Meeting was called to order at 2:01 p.m. • Mr. Schroeder welcomed all members. A recorded tape of this meeting is kept in the health department library for review.. Minutes of the November 4th meeting were approved as written. Board Business Discussion of the Proposed Action of the A Rating System: Mr. Jones asked for thoughts and comments from the committee regarding the A Rating System. Mr. Denson commented that he liked it;however,he would like to see an"Act of God" clause added. Dr. Silvers informed the committee of the supervisory visit. This can be utilized when a restaurant owner and/or manager feel a rating to be unjust. In such a case a senior inspector would re-inspect. Other committee members commented that they felt this would be a positive, favorable opportunity. Mr.Denson made a motion to proceed with the proposed guidelines to include the following amendments: 1) addition of the word"re-inspect"in#4 of the proposed guidelines,2) adding an"Act of God"clause, and 3)including the entitlement of every restaurant to a supervisory visit. Mr. Ard seconded the motion. With no discussion,the motion was unanimously SCANNED 1 M t A approved. A demonstration of the division's new technology will be presented in March. Manager's Report The division is working on the health renewal permits. Director's Update Dr. Silvers informed the committee that the mad cow disease found was in one cow. He further added that this animal did not come to Texas. Old Business: Mr. Robbins inquired on a procedure manual for water supply during the event of disaster. New Business: None Next Meeting: The next meeting will be held on March 2, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the Administration Conference Room at the Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District, 1702 Horne Road.
