FOOD SERVICE ADVISORY COMMITTEE
March 2,2004
Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District
Administration Conference Room
Members Present: John Denson, William Schroeder,Robert Ard, Suzanne Gilliam
and D.W. Haven
Members Absent: Gabriel Hernandez
Staff Present: Larry Jones, Annette Rodriguez, MPH, and Dr. Michael Silvers
Meeting was called to order at 2:03 p.m.
Mr. Schroeder welcomed all members.
A recorded tape of this meeting is kept in the health department library for review.
Minutes of the January 6th meeting were approved as written.
Mr. Schroeder noted that Mr. James Robbins had resigned from the board effective
immediately. Mr. Schroeder also commented that the vacant position was an At-Large
position.
Board Business
There have been three proposals for the Environmental Health Division to review for its
new technology. The chosen consultant would be responsible for writing the program
necessary to operate.
The division has chosen a contractor; the contract is undergoing review with the Legal
Department. The Environmental Health Division is hopeful to have the new technology
effective July 1st
Larry Jones offered the committee members to ride along with an inspector once the new
system was implemented. The committee members were excited to accept.
Dr. Silvers added that the funding for the new technology has been generated from the
division's program income in inspections and permits.
Manager's Report
The division is awaiting the ordinance from the Legal Department regarding the"A"
Rating System. Upon receiving the ordinance, it will be shared with the committee for

final review. Once approved, the ordinance will be sent to City Council for approval.
The"A"Rating System will be communicated to the public by means of meetings,press
releases and through media. Mr. Jones will also make a presentation to the Restaurant
Association in an upcoming meeting.
Dr. Silvers confirmed that the food service area should not be affected by the recent
discussions of possible budget cuts by the County.

Next Meeting: The next meeting will be held on May 4, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the
Administration Conference Room at the Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health
District, 1702 Horne Road.
