ATTENDANCE REVIEW: Mr. Dominguez resigned;, vacancy must 'be filled I.11 '� from food industry. Mr. Bell called today and asked to be excused. Motion approved to excuse Mr. Bell from today's meeting!'. . { Motion approved to excuse absences of Mr. Ard & Mr. Kuddes at !'9-15792 meeting as previously requested. All in good standing with these excused absences. j1 . DIRECTORS REPORT: The Health Department produces a TV Program for TCI Cablevision on Channel 10. Each month the subject of • the program changes; the topic of the November program is Environmental and Consumer Health Protection. A video of this program 'was shown to the Committee. It included information about food establishment permitting and inspections, food handler classes, food :manager training, fees, etc. A portion of the program showed the proper way to thaw a turkey; how to prepare, cook and carve it; and how 'to avoid spoilage of left-overs. State Officials have been informed of our monthly TV program. Mr. Decker hopes to have 1993 Food Establishment Health Permits mailed out before Thanksgiving. Mr. McFarland is serving on Texas Department of Health's lad hoc committee for Food Manager Recertification. He passed out a copy of the contents of the Recertification Course. The course will now take 6 hours to complete and include' a State approved examination. The new course will include some new concepts. Changes will also be made in the Certification Course in the future. The proposed . smoking ordinance changes are still in the City's Legal Department; the City Manager may want some additional changes. NEW BUSINESS: Members will look for a new member from the food industry to replace Mr. Dominguez. The Health & Welfare Board is inviting members of this Committee and the Animal Control Advisory Committee to their Christmas luncheon/meeting on Tuesday, 12/15/92 at 11: 30 a.m. in the Auditorium. City and County Officials will also be invited. The luncheon will be catered by Jack Bell.
