FOOD SERVICE ADVISORY COMMITTEE
January 19, 1999 Meeting

Members Present: D. W. Haven, Chair; Gabriel Hernandez; Carlos Moreno;
Ray Gomez
Members Absent: Jeff Dolson; Monte Thorman
Staff Present: Nina M. Sisley, M.D.; Roger Barker; Steve Shepard VW
Staff Absent: Jim McFarland
Mr. Haven, Chair, called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. The minutes of the
November 17, 1998 meeting was approved as written. Mr. Haven, Mr. Moreno,
and Mr. Gomez requested excused absences. Motion was made and unanimously
passed by members present to excuse all absences of above members.
Program: Wayne Darnell, TDH Shellfish Division was not able to attend due to
algae toxin investigation in the coastal bay areas.
Environmental and Consumer Health Protection (E&CHP) Director's Report:
Mr. Shepard presented the Food Protection Activity Report for December, 1998 in
Mr. McFarland's absence.
Discussion concerning the new food rules and inspection requirements ensued. The new
reporting will be official after second reading by the City Council. Inspections are
anticipated to increase due to the new requirements. A copy of the new rules was given
to each committee member. Mr. Haven invited the committee members to attend the
Texas Establishment Rules Training in Corpus Christi on February 23, 1999 at Texas
A& M University.,
Next Meeting: The next meeting will be held Tuesday, March 16, 1999 at 2:00 p.m.
at Del Mar College, West Campus' new Food Lab.
Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 2:55 p. m.
