Mr. Gamboa asked if there were any volunteers to assist in preparing the draft Resolution. Commissioners Elias Valverde, Toni Davis and Lucy Reta volunteered to assist in preparing the Resolution. Once the Commission passes the Resolution, it will then be forwarded to the City Manager to present to the City Council to endorse and send forward to where it would be appropriate. CHAIRPERSON'S REPORT A. LULAC Council No. 1 Leadership Banquet — February 17, 2011 Mr. Gamboa reported the Outstanding Community Leaders Banquet was very successful. The following people were honored at this year's banquet: Sheriff Jim Kaelin, Dr. Mark R. Bielefeld, District Judge Jose Longoria, Mr. Mike Scott- H&S Contractors, Mrs. Elva Estrada-Del Mar Board of Regents, Mr. Steve Arnold- Corpus Christi Caller Times, Dr. Dolores Guerrero-Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Youth Commissioner Janet Zuniga attended the event and stated it was a great experience for her. 6. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS A. Housing Subcommittee — Planning Committee Meeting, March 7, 2011, 4:00 p.m. Margie Myers stated the April Fair Housing Event will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 Page 8 of 10 at Del Mar College. A Planning Committee Meeting will be held at 4:00 p.m,, Monday March 7th in the Human Relations Department. A report will be provided at next month's meeting. B. Committee for Persons With Disabilities — Meeting of 03102/11 Abel Alonzo reported the following: • South Texas Lighthouse for the Blind presentation by Committee member Alana Manrow • A presentation by Green-N-Go Cabs is scheduled for next month's meeting C. CDBG Housing Outreach Update — Walter Bryant Walter Bryant reported he will be presenting a PowerPoint presentation to the senior citizens at the Oveal Senior Center on Tuesday, March 8th at 10:00 a.m. Mr. Bryant has been contacting several community churches to schedule presentations to educate the community regarding Fair Housing. Leon Bazar is scheduled to conduct annual training at the Housing Association on June 16th. Mr. Bazar will also be conducting annual training regarding Harassment and Diversity in the workplace at the Corpus Christi Housing Authority next week.
