Summary of Minutes for January 5, 2012
1. CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Ramiro Gamboa called the meeting to order at 5:03 p.m.

B. REQUESTS FOR EXCUSED ABSENCES
MOTION Motion to excuse Janet Zuniga, and Robert Franklin for the January 5, 2012 meeting made
by Commissioner Valverde and seconded by Commissioner Reta. Motion passed.
2. APPROVAL OF REGULAR MEETING MINUTES OF 08/04/11
MOTION Motion to approve the December 1, 2011 meeting minutes with revisions made by
Commissioner Reta and seconded by Commissioner Valverde. Motion passed. Revision:
On page 2, Item 5.A., corrected to reflect Commissioner Cooper instead of Commissioner
Adler as a member of the Vacancy Subcommittee.

A. Subcommittee Recommendation for Vacant Position
Chairperson Gamboa stated the Subcommittee met and recommended Abel Alonzo to fill the
position vacated by Commissioner Adler. The Commission approved the recommendation.

B. Committee for Persons With Disabilities
• Sylvia Wilson mentioned the CFPWD met and had no presentations, and
provided a brief overview of the meeting.
• Mr. Alonzo mentioned that the February 1, 2012 CFPWD meeting will be his last
as his term expires February 1, 2012. He informed the Commission that he has
been appointed Chairman of the RTA Committee for Accessible Transportation
(RCAT).
C. Education Subcommittee — No Report
D. Disparity Subcommittee — No Report
8. HUMAN RELATIONS ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT
A. Department Monthly Performance Report Review
Sylvia Wilson provided the December 2012 Monthly Performance Report. Highlights of
division activitv provided.
B. Department Update
Ms. Wilson introduced Christina Aparicio as the new Management Aide for the Human
Relations Division.
C. Reminder of Meeting Time Frame
• Ms. Wilson commented on adherence to the commission's 5 to 6 meeting time
frame due to other events scheduled on the Council Chambers calendar.
• Chairperson Gamboa reminded the Commission of attendance requirements. He
stated excused absences are fine however; three consecutive unexcused absences
may necessitate action.

December 2011
EEOC compliants received for the month 22, YTD 69 - these area combina of no charges, cancelled appointments or
no call /no sho
Fair Housing, currently 16 open cases
Trash /Recycle Service Assistance. Completed Audit of 134 cases initiated by Solid Waste to ensure compliance with
program. Of those, 43 are considered new per program guidelines, 56 were discontinued for not meeting program i
guidelines, 35 are continuing service or going through the recertification process
