1. CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Ramiro Gamboa called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

PUBLIC COMMENTS (LIMITED TO 3 MINUTES)
1. Abel Alonzo, chairman of the RTA Committee on Accessible Transportation (RCAT)
informed the Commission of a vacancy on the RTA Board of Directors. Mr. Alonzo is
requesting to be placed on the CCHRC 06/07/12 agenda for discuss of the House Bill
1621 and to vote on getting the Bill amended. Mr. Alonzo is requesting that the Board
of Directors selects a disabled disadvantage rider.
4. PRESENTATIONS
A. Fire Chief Rocha — His innovation on evacuations and disasters
Chief Rocha gave insight as to how the Fire Department is planning to handle
evacuation issues.

6. Chairpersons Report
A. Subcommittee recommendations on re- appointments and new appointments
Wanese announced that the subcommittee of Commissioners Villagran, Alonzo, and
Cooper did meet and do the recommendations for one (1) commission seat: Mary
MOTION Wambach, Stephanie Cloutet, Joel Mumphord. Ms. Butler then mentioned the youth
commission seats are pending. The Subcommittee will resume for the youth
commissioners at a later date. Chairperson Gamboa asked for a Motion to approve the
three (3) recommendations for a new appointment.

B. Annual Retreat
Ms. Butler mentioned the retreat will consist of three entities; CCHRC, CFPWD, RCAT.
Ms. Butler also mentioned that the RTA has offered to sponsor the retreat.
7. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS
A. Housing Subcommittee
Margie Meyers mentioned that she had attended the Veteran's Land Board
education seminar which had plenty of information regarding loans to be used for
land, houses, education and more. Ms. Meyers gave the Commission a website
www.texasveterans.com for more detailed information.
B. Committee for Persons With Disabilities
Ms. Butler stated that Carlos Vargas Chairperson of CFPWD was out due to a
business trip. Ms. Butler gave a brief update on the 05/03/12 Committee meeting.
C. Education Subcommittee
Kathleen Cooper mentioned the Education Subcommittee has been invited to attend
the Career Fair being held at F. H. Moody High School on May 23, 2012. Ms. Cooper
along with Youth Commissioner Brianna Mendiola and EEOC Compliance Officer
Charlene Kaplan of Human Relations Division will attend and do an EEOC
PowerPoint Presentation.
D. Disparity Subcommittee — No Report
8. HUMAN RELATIONS ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT
A. Department Monthly Performance Report Review
Ms. Butler provided the April 2012 Monthly Performance Report. Highlights of division
activity provided. Also, Ms. Butler discussed the April Fair Housing Outreach trainings.
