CALL TO ORDER Vice-Chairperson Cooper called the meeting to order at 5:04 p.m. A. PUBLIC COMMENTS (LIMITED TO 3 MINUTES) Public Comments was opened; no comments made. 5. PRESENTATIONS A. ADA Compliance for Home Owner Association - Wanese Butler, Fair Housing Compliance Officer Mrs. Butler provided a PowerPoint presentation to the Commission regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Fair Housing Act which isn't unique for only the Home Owner Association. (A copy of the PowerPoint presentation is attached at the end of the minutes) 6. CHAIRPERSON'S REPORT A. 2nd Annual Retreat Update Mrs. Wilson stated the Retreat is scheduled for January 18, 2014 at the Ben McDonald Library (Greenwood Library) from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. held for the Corpus Christi Human Relations Commission (CCHRC), Committee For Person With Disabilities (CFPWD) and the RTA Committee on Accessible Transportation (RCAT). 7. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS A. Housing Subcommittee - No Report B. Committee for Persons with Disabilities Committee Chairperson David Ramos stated he had nothing to report as the CFPWD meet on 1/8/14. Education Subcommittee — Update Vice-Chairperson Cooper stated before the holidays she sent out emails to various principals and school districts, but hasn't heard anything back which may be due to the holidays. She then stated she would look into it. D. Disparity Subcommittee — No Report E. Goals Subcommittee — No Report F. 50th Anniversary Subcommittee - Update Mrs. Wilson stated no report due to staffing issues and the holidays. She then mentioned 2014 makes it 50 years since the Civil Act right has been signed into law and how it would be nice to do a dual celebration to tie both events together. 8. HUMAN RELATIONS ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT Mrs. Wilson provided and discussed her December 2013 Monthly Performance Report to Commissioners. Questions and comments ensued by numerous Commissioners. Commissioner Kramer asked if Mr. Gamboa was assisting with the 50th Anniversary since he was no longer on the Commission. Mrs. Wilson stated she would speak with Mr. Gamboa to see if he would be interested in assisting. (A copy of the Human Relations report is attached at the end of the minutes) 9. IDENTIFY ITEMS TO BE PLACED ON NEXT AGENDA No Commissioners requested any items to be placed on the next agenda. Mrs. Wilson stated should any event or topic arise that they may feel it should be brought to the commission then Commissioners may send an email with their request to Ms. Aparicio and/or her shelf. Commissioner Mumphord requested if there were any organizations for males such as the South Texas Leadership for Women. Mrs. Wilson stated she isn't aware of anything form the South Texas Diversity Council. Brief discussion ensued. Result of discussion ended with MR. Mumphord requesting if possible for the male Commissioners to host such an event for young high school males. Mrs. Wilson welcomed the idea.
