CALL TO ORDER Chairperson Cooper called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. A. REQUESTS FOR EXCUSED ABSENCES Mickey Kramer and Alice Aparicio-Bussey requested excused absences for the current, MOTION 06/10/14 monthly meeting. Motion —Toni Davis Second — Edna Arredondo Motion Pass 3. APPROVAL OF REGULAR MEETING MINUTES OF 05/01/14 MOTION Motion — Pastor Derrick Reaves Second — Corey Elizondo Motion Passed. 4. PUBLIC COMMENTS (LIMITED TO 3 MINUTES) The Public Comments was opened with no one coming forward the public comments were closed. 5. PRESENTATIONS a. Rehabilitation Loan Program — Kelly Fr, Community Development Program Office Manager Mrs. Wilson stated the item would be tabled for next month. 6. EXPIRING TERMS: PASTOR DERRICK REAVES, KATHLEEN COOPER, COREY ELIZONDO, FAITH MEZA AND KYLE JAMES 7. COUNCIL REAPPOINTMENT: MERCED PENA AND JOEL MUMPHORD Mrs. Wilson stated Commissioners Merced Pena and Joel Mumphord requested to be reappointed. These reappointments were approved by the mayor to continue serving the Commission. 8. COUNCIL APPOINTMENTS: RENE SAENZ, REPLACING PASTOR DERRICK REAVES; LYNDON SMILING, REPLACING KATHLEEN COOPER; SAHERISH SURANI, REPLACING COREY ELIZONDO, HAYDEN SUTHERLAND REPLACING KYLE JAMES; Page 1 of 3 SOPHIE SUSSER REPLACING FAITH MEZA; JOEL MUMPHORD AS CHAIRPERSON The new Commissioners introduced themselves; Lyndon Smiling — Was in the Navy for 20 years, and now works for Army Depot.; Rene Saenz —A previous Commissioner from 2008 as well as a Moody High School Educator of Government Economics; Hayden Sutherland — an upcoming Senior at Miller High School; Saherish Surani — upcoming sophomore at Carol High School; Sophie Susser— upcoming Junior and cheerleader at Ray High School. Mrs. Wilson provided the new Commissioners with information on the type of services the Human Relations Division provides to the community. 9. CHAIRPERSON'S REPORT a. Certificates of Appreciation: Kathleen Cooper, Corey Elizondo, Kyle James, Faith Meza, Pastor Derrick Reaves Chairperson Kathleen Cooper presented appreciation certificates to each of the expiring term commissioners. Mrs. Wilson presented Chairperson Kathleen Cooper with her application certificate. b. General Update No discussion. 10. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS a. Housing Subcommittee — No Update b. Committee for Persons with Disabilities — No update, meeting on 7/2/14 Committee Chairperson David Ramos provided an update on the Committee for Persons with Disabilities meeting held on 7/2/14. The update included presentations and Department Staff reports. c. Education Subcommittee — No Update d. Disparity Subcommittee — No Report e. 50th Anniversary Subcommittee — No Update 8. HUMAN RELATIONS ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT Mrs. Wilson provided and discussed her June 2014 monthly performance report to Commissioners. (A copy of the report is attached at the end of the minutes) 9.
