Corpus Christi Human Relations Commission Summary of Minutes for February 4, 2016 1. CALL TO ORDER Chairperson Kramer called the meeting to order at 5:08 p.m. A. Introduction of Linda Cantu 2. REQUESTS AND APPROVALS FOR EXCUSED ABSENCES Joel Mumphord requested an excused absence for last month's meeting due to illness. Rene Saenz emailed that he wouldn't be present at today's meeting since he is a soccer coach until mid March. Carlos Aguinaga emailed that he would be out of town. APPROVAL OF REGULAR MEETING MINUTES OF 12/10/15 MOTION Motion — Lyndon Smiling Second —April Bassett Motion Passed 4. PUBLIC COMMENTS (LIMITED TO 3 MINUTES) No Public Comments. 5. PRESENTATIONS A. Bullying in the Workplace — Dr. Marvarene Oliver, TAMUCC Dr. Oliver discussed the reasons for bullying in the workplace, the targets of bullying and the costs connected with it. (A copy of her power point presentation is attached.) 6. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS A. Housing Subcommittee — Laura Commons reviewed the statistics from December 2015 and provided a handout on housing trends. (A copy of the handout is attached) B. Committee for Persons with Disabilities — No update Page 1 of 8 C. Education Subcommittee — Robert Bonilla discussed the opportunities for Youth at Work presentations at the Youth Summit scheduled for March 12, 2016. He stated they are working on the presentation with Charlene Kaplan of the Human Relations Department and hope to finalize definite plans soon. Mr. Kramer encouraged participation by more of the Members to support the events. D. Scholarship Program Subcommittee — Sylvia Wilson stated that Rene Saenz had met with the Deputy Assistant City Manager but did not have the details. E. Bylaw Subcommittee — Sylvia Wilson said the work is still in progress and she hopes to have something by next month. 7. HUMAN RELATIONS ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT Mrs. Wilson informed the members about the Texas Diversity Council which promotes diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Mrs. Wilson reviewed her January 2016 monthly performance report with the Commissioners. (A copy of the report is attached.) 8. CHAIRPERSON'S REPORT — No report 9. Identify Items to be placed on next Agenda • Commissioner Bassett suggested a presentation on the Harbor Bridge expansion.
