1. CALL MEETING TO ORDER:
The Chairperson called the meeting to order at 5:05 PM
2. ROLL CALL:

Mr. Adler, Dr. Baldwin, Mr. Fuentes, Mr. Summerlin

Absent Commissioners: Ms. Lucy Reta, Ms. Jennifer Starr, Ms. Marisa K. Dowling, Mr. Albert

3. EXCUSED ABSENCES:
• MOTION: Dr. Ledbetter moved to excuse Ms. Fallwell-Stover's absence with a
Second from Ms. Patterson. The Motion passed.
• MOTION: Mr. Adler moved to excuse Dr. Ledbetter absence with a Second from Dr.
Peterson. The Motion passed.
4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
MOTION: Mr. Summerlin moved to approve the minutes with a Second from Ms. Patterson.
The motion passed.
5. ANNOUNCEMENTS/ INTRODUCTIONS/PRESENTATIONS: none
6. CHAIRPERSON'S REPORT: none
7. COMMISSION SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS: (Discussion with Possible Action)
A. Housing Sub-Committee:
1. Fair Housing Brochure
Ms. Patterson asked why the Commission feels the need to do a fair housing brochure
when one already exists. Mr. Summerlin explained that the original concern came
from the Committee for Persons with Disabilities and original intent was to address
accommodations. At that time, CP&L said that they would do a mass mailing and
assist in reaching many people. This is why the Commission under took the adoption
of the brochure. The Sub-Committee originally consisted of Ms. Betty Black and Mr.
Erroll Summerlin. Ms. Leah Patterson will join Mr. 0. K. Smith and Mr. Summerlin in
preparing a draft for the next meeting. The members of the Commission all agree that
this information needs to be accessible to the citizens.

The Housing Sub-Committee agreed to meet.

B. Committee for Persons with Disabilities: - Report by Linda Fallwell-Stover
Ms. Fallwell-Stover mentioned that representatives from the American Bank Center,
the City's Engineering Department, and Whataburger Field did presentations at the
Committee for Persons with Disabilities Meeting on Wednesday, May 4, 2005.
C. Education Subcommittee: none
8. OLD BUSINESS: (Discussion with Possible Action):
Mr. Bazar stated that the three subpoenas that were previously brought before the Committee
resulted in the information requested being provided.

9. ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT:

Mr. Bazar updated the Commission on the work and progress of the Human Relations
Department and Staff.
10. PUBLIC COMMENTS/ CONCERNS/ ITEMS FOR NEXT AGENDA:
• Former Mayor Loyd Neal Thanked Mr. Hinojosa for his service t the Human Relations
Commission and to the community.
• Mr. Hinojosa thanked the Commission for their support
• Mr. Bazar announced that cake and punch would be served in honor of Mr. Hinojosa's
departure from the Commission.

MOTION: The motion was made and the meeting was adjourned.
