ISLAND STRATEGIC ACTION COMMITTEE

1) Call to Order
➢ Chair called the regular meeting of the Island Strategic Action Committee to order at 5:30 PM on
June 4, 2013.
2) Roll Call
➢ Chair calls the roll.

3) Approval of Minutes for May 7t", 2013.
➢ Motion by John White, second by Rick Sowash.
4) Public Comment
➢ Dave Zyler, lives on Dasmarinas, has resurrected 2005/2007 petition for speed humps for Dasmarinas.
Requests information on the lane striping on Dasmarinas. Include on July Agenda.
5) PRIDE Committee Ideas
➢ No representative present. Ralph Tapscott will confirm next month. Include on July Agenda.
6) Bond Ideas
➢ Bond 2014 will be primarily a street bond. List of 100 top streets in CM packet on Friday, will be taking
list to Planning Commission on June 191H
➢ Committee inquired about plans to address paper streets around platted lots.
➢ Jodi Steen, Rick Sowash and Bryan Gulley will work on proposal. Include on September Agenda.
7) FEMA Maps
➢ Rick Sowash has crafted letter, will modify to include questions on re-nourishment, request it be sent
to John Speights, Floodplain Administrator.
8) Windstorm
➢ SB 1702 passed out of Senate, allows for WPIA Waiver Program.The main bill supported by ISAC,
SB1700, did not. Eleanor Kitzman not re-confirmed as Commissioner.
➢ Committee concerned about increased storm rate.
9) Wastewater Odors
➢ City replaced Force Main Line on Whitecap, cleaning 36" line, which had never been cleaned.
➢ Include on July Agenda.

10) Traffic&Street Issues
➢ Aquarius speed tables have been located and coordinated, installation should begin next day.
➢ Whitecap & Gypsy turning movement count completed. Will revisit when more development occurs.
Committee is interested in a roundabout.
11) Engineering Project Status/Bond 2012 Report
➢ Committee requested to delete completed projects from list.
12) Beach & Park Management
➢ Committee discussed rate increase. Include on July Agenda.
13) 4t"of July Fireworks
➢ Fireworks are confirmed for July 41n
14) Schlitterbahn Updates
➢ Started work on buildings, will begin canal in next few days.
➢ Opening set for Memorial Day 2014.
15) Schedule Next Meeting
➢ Tuesday,July 91"at 5:30 PM.
➢ Include Stage 4 Water Rationing Requirements on July Agenda.
➢ Water Department Updates on August Agenda
