ISLAND STRATEGIC ACTION COMMITTEE

1) Call to Order
➢ Vice-chair called the regular meeting of the Island Strategic Action Committee to order at 5:32 PM on
July 9, 2013.
2) Roll Call
➢ Chair calls the roll.

3) Approval of Minutes for June 6,2013.
➢ Correction on item 6,Jodi Steen, not Jyoti Patel, on Subcommittee for Bond Ideas.
➢ Correction on Item 12, no action taken.
4) Public Comment
➢ Maybeth Christensen stated PIPOA Board is in support of Boat Patrol.
5) PRIDE Committee Ideas
➢ City requests committee to consider businesses to nominate for PRIDE Green and Clean award.
6) Bond Ideas
➢ Update from subcommittee to be Include on September Agenda.
➢ Committee inquired about plans to address paper streets around platted lots, alternative sources of
funding.
7) FEMA Maps
➢ Committee requests information on when FEMA began surveying for FIRM update, City check link to
maps.
8) Windstorm
➢ New Insurance Commissioner will visit Corpus Christi on July 23rd.
➢ January 1, 2013 increases were approved in 2012. No increase in place for 2014,which may change.
9) Wastewater Odors
➢ Work is in progress. Include on August Agenda.
10) Water Rationing Requirements
➢ Water Department has low pressure water heads and faucet restrictors available.

11) Traffic&Street Issues
➢ Committee requests City address tree's obstruction of speed limit sign on Whitecap from Aquarius.
12) Engineering Project Status/Bond 2012 Report
➢ See Engineering Update Report.
➢ Packery Channel Monitoring Contract up for renewal. Include on August Agenda.
13) Beach & Park Management
➢ July 4t"weekend had large increase in Beach Permits. Collected more trash than during Spring Break.
➢ City has met with consultant for Bond 12's Billish Park improvements, will arrange meeting with PIPOA
once contract is complete.
14) Police Issues
➢ Captain Sanders discussed Gulf Beach Initiative, two officers will patrol beach until Labor Day.
➢ Officers John McGinley and Joshua Swain presented proposal for Police Boat to patrol canals, combat
home burglaries and illegal trafficking. Roughly$74,000 needs to be raised to pay for the boat.
➢ Bryan Gulley, William Goldston and A Hart appointed to sub-committee. Include on August Agenda.
15) 4t"of July Fireworks
➢ Sub-committee will give report on what's ahead next month. Include on August Agenda.
16) Schlitterbahn Updates
➢ Construction is ongoing.
17) Schedule Next Meeting
➢ Tuesday, August 61"at 5:30 PM.
