Call to Order/Roll Call
The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m. by Vice Chairman Mark Robbins and a quorum was
declared.

Motion to approve the September 24, 2015 minutes was made by Mr. Rucker and seconded by
Mr.Thompson. Motion passed with Ms. Common and Ms. Charba absent.
I . Discussion and Possible Action
Grant Submittal to the Texas Historical Commission: Dr. Robbins, Vice Chairman, stated that at
the September meeting, a lengthy discussion took place as to how the commission should proceed in
finalizing and submitting the grant application to the Texas Historical Commission. Dr. Robbins continued
that the grant subcommittee was tasked to finalize the draft based on discussions at the September meeting
and present it for action at today's meeting. Dr. Robbins went on to say that Mr. Thompson and Ms,
Commons were to meet with Development Services Department Staff to discuss using GIS staff hours as
a match for the grant funding and they will provide an update on the meeting..
Mr. Thompson stated he and Ms. Commons met with Dan Grimsbo, Development Services
Director, and the meeting was very positive. Mr. Thompson stated they presented the proposal that the
Landmark Commission wanted to submit the grant application to the Texas Historical Commission, but it
had to be matched with City funding either monetary or through staffs in-kind services. Mr.Grimsbo stated
he was in support of the grant submittal and he would have to review the department's budget to see how
the department would be able to assist in matching the grant. Mr. Thompson stated the commission was
requesting the grant be matched through man-hours of GIS staff and Mr. Grimsbo stated he was not sure
if the department could provide the GIS man-hours, but he would be willing to see what monies can be
made available.

IV. Discussion and Possible Action

Ms. Commons stated she thought match for the grant request had to be specific as to whether
match would be met through cash or in-kind services. Mr. Thompson stated again that at this time, Staff
was still unsure about matching the grant with GIS staff time. Mr. Thompson continued that to was
intrigued with the media data complete with addresses.
Discussion ensued regarding whether the grant application request should be $12,000 or$6,000
for the project. The consensus was to request$6,000.00 for the first phase of having the binders scanned
and digitized. After further discussion and comments concluded, motion to approve submittal of the grant
application to the Texas Historical Commission,after minor changes are made,was made by Ms.Commons
and seconded by Mr.Thompson. Motion passed.
MeetirIg Dates for November/December Meetings: Mr. Dimas stated the meetings for November
and December fall during the holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas.Mr.Dimas continued the commission
should decide if an alternate meeting date will be selected or cancel the meetings. After a brief discussion,
it was the consensus that the November and December meetings will be cancelled and the commission will
meet in January 2016.
Dr. Robbins stated that Dolores Huerta will speak at Del Mar College Wolfe Recital all at 6 p.m.
Dr. Robbins continued that the Nueces County Historical Commission will unveil the historical marker for
the labor camp site of the Nueces County labor camp. The camp site still continues to be an important part
of the history of the Nueces County Park. The unveiling will be on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 10:30 a.m.
Ms McKinney stated that in 2016,the Spanish Historical group will meet in Corpus Christi and they
and about the historical green binders are excited out the possibility of reviewing the Ms McKinney

Mr. Dimas stated today's meeting was the last one for Dr. Robbins and Ms. Commons due to to
limitations. Mr, Dimas expressed thanks to both of the for their service to the Landmark Commission.
Mr.Dimas continued that with the resignation of Mr.Soto and Mr,Thorson and the term limits of Dr. Robbins
and Ms.Commons, the commission will have four(4)vacancies, Mr. Dimas stated if commissioners knew
of anyone interested in serving on the commission:,. they should be submit an application to the City
Secretary's office.
