He stated the application was submitted in November 2015 and it was accepted but THC feels that more information is needed besides the binders containing approximately 1,300 properties of potential historic landmarks. The Texas Historical Commission recommended that more of a physical update should occur out in the field. With that in mind, Staff has decided to put the application on hold and resubmit for the next budget cycle with a more thorough Historic Resources Survey. Also, with the partnership with the Downtown Management District (DMD), the Historic Resources Survey will be focusing on an update of the downtown area and portions of the uptown area as well. Minutes of Landmark Commission Regular Meeting May 26, 2016 Page 2 Alyssa Barrera, City Manager's Office, explained how funds will work through a matching reimbursement grant. Once approved, the funds will be provided up front in partnership with the Tax Reinvestment Zone and the Downtown Management District. Then THC will match and reimburse those funds to be transferred back into the Reinvestment Zone. Terry Sweeney, Downtown Management District, gave some background history as to how the partnership with THC is beneficial by way of obtaining state tax credits, training/conferences and technical/architectural services. He also informed the Commission how the DMD has obtained for the City a "Main Street" designation. He stated the DMD will be the project manager for the Historic Resources Survey. Discussion continued with regards to what the next steps are to be taken with the project. In order to express the Commission's support for the partnership/project/contract, a motion was made by Commissioner Becquet and seconded by Commissioner Charba. All were in favor and motion passed.
