ACTION ITEMS: Approval of February 24, 2005 Minutes: The February 24,2005minutes were approved with the following correction: Page 1, Paragraph 1: Minutes were corrected to reflect that Mr. Myron Grossman was absent and did not chair the meeting as stated. The meeting was chaired by Ms. Bunny linker. Master Review Committee's Recommendation on Acceptance & Approval of Property Proposed for "HC-N" Designation Located at 313 Clifford Street: Ms. linker addressed the commission. Ms. Tinker stated that at the February meeting, the Master Review Committee recommended that the properly located at 313 Clifford Street be designated as a "potential landmark" with four exceptions: porch addition, wrought iron columns, the picture window, and the boarded-up window. Ms. linker continued that after the owner was notified of the Landmark Commission's decision regarding the designation, he was upset and was not satisfied with the 'potential designation,"but he wanted the full. "HC-N designation. The owner was told why the properly was designated as a 'potential' and he immediately corrected several items that were noted as exceptions. Ms. linker stated that three of the four exceptions were corrected. The plate glass window over the porch was still in place. Ms. Tinker continued that she was excited regarding the property owners response in wanting to do what was necessary in order to obtain the designation. Ms. Tinker stated that the Master Review's commendation for the properly was that it be designated as"HC-N"with one exception. After Ms. linker's report, the floor was opened for comment and discussion. Mr. Thompson stated he was glad that owner was willing to go back and make some changes and the commission reviewed the property again. Mr. Thompson continued that this would be an excellent opportunity for SCANNED Landmark Commission Meeting( Apr11128,21705 Page 2 the media to do a "before" and "after" article for the properly located at 313 Clifford Street, especially since the owner was so cooperative and willing to do whatit took to receive the"HC"designation instead of the"potential landmark designation." Other Matters: Select Committee for Election of 2005 Officers: Ms. Macon stated it was time for the commission to select a new chairman and co-chairman for 2005, and as in the past, a Nominating Committee was needed to bring back names for the commission to consider. The committee would submit its recommendation at the May meeting. After a brief discussion, Dr. David Blanke, Grandis Lenken, and Craig Thompson volunteered to serve on the committee. Ms. Tinker gave a brief update on the TXDot community meeting. Ms. Tinker stated that it was discussed to appoint a special committee to look at other sites that were being contemplated for placement of the new Harbor Bridge alignment. The presentation was basically the same, but it had been tweaked and enhanced since the last public meeting. Ms. Macon informed commissioners that Glen Peterson would be bringing three more applications for properties on Clifford Street to pursue for"HC'designation. The Landmark Commission accepted the Master Review Committee's recommendation to designate the structure located at 313 Clifford Street with the"HC-N designation. The structure was originally designated as a"Potential Landmark"at the February 24, 2005 meeting.
