The roll was called and a quorum was not present. Mr. Goodman stated that the purpose of today's meeting was to review and rate the remaining slides of Phase II of the historical site survey. Mr. Goodman continued that the Commission had to complete the review of Phase II slides before Phase II-A was started. At this point, the meeting was turned over to Ms. Macon, Staff Liaison, to begin the slide presentation. Mr. Mabrey commented that this house was a reminder of the "dog trot" house. The structure has potential if it could be restored. Ms. Tinker stated this house was reviewed by the Building Standards Board in October 1991 and was granted an time extension to allow the owner enough time to try to sell the house. Ms. Tinker continued that since October 1991, the house has been restored and sold. Ms.Tinker added that since the survey was taken, the structure has been rehabilitated. After a brief discussion, the priority rating was changed to high. 801: Built between 1900 - 1910; Plan/Type - rectangular; domestic function; Stylistic Influence - Bungalow; medium priority rating; Landmark Commission changed priority rating to low. 805: Built between 1900 - 1910; Plan/Type - rectangular; domestic function; Stylistic Influence - Bungalow; medium priority rating. Ms. Tinker added that the Park View Apartments are located to the left of the house. 900: South Bluff City Park; park was established in 1914. In 1938, the City operated a zoo in the northwest corner of the park. The zoo was an extension of an earlier zoo located elsewhere in the park. The maintenance buildings were renovated into a pro show and more tennis courts were added in 1983; high priority rating. 902: Built in 1940; Architect/Builder -Brock, Roberts, and Anderson; Plan/Type - rectangular; government function; Stylistic Influence -Art Deco. The building was a project of the State of Texas through the Centennial Planning Board. On December 20, 1938,the building was dedicated as the Memorial Museum of the City of Corpus Christi and Nueces County, Inc. In early 1944, the name was changed to Centennial Art Museum; high priority rating. Mr. Mabrey commented that during this time period, this style of architect was built on the east coast and it is considered an old style of architect. The house is said to be the first Negro Homestead in the city. After a brief discussion, the priority rating of medium was changed to high by the Landmark Commission. Ms. Tinker commented that the structures rated low should be reviewed in context with the entire area and not on an individual basis; especially when an area has potential of becoming a district. 1006: Built between 1900 - 1920; Plan/Type - rectangular; domestic function; Stylistic Influence - Bungalow; medium priority rating. This structure was purchased and restored by the law firm of Rodriguez and Rodriguez (Mr. and Mrs. Rene Rodriguez). The 1927 City Director lists the occupant as Miss Mary Carroll, Superintendent of Corpus Christi High School; Mary Carroll High School, located on the south side, was named in her honor; high priority rating. FURMAN AVENUE: 512: Built between 1920 - 1940; Plan/Type - rectangular; domestic function; Stylistic Influence - Prairie/Four Square; medium priority rating. 605: Second Baptist Church was built in 1945; Architect/Builder - E.
