▪Consider Committee Member Attendance Issues
Elsa Munoz reported that the City Secretary's Office has submitted a letter of termination to Marylin
Upmanyu based on her absences. She also stated that today will be Vicki Garza's fourth absence for
this term year. SCS Staff will notify the City Secretary's Office of her absences.
►Approval of Minutes:
Committee members reviewed the December 2009 meeting minutes. Cecilia Huerta stated on page
one of the minutes under the SCS Division Program Report section the word "be" is missing from the
last sentence. Ms. Huerta motioned to approve the minutes with the correction mentioned. Patricia
Byrd and Miltan Martiz seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved.
0-Unfinished Buisness:
Ms. Munoz reported that the actual report for the 2009 Holiday Dinner had not been completed but
would like to mention that the American Bank Center did not charge the $4,000.00 in rent for this
event. We were given a discounted rate which we were charge only for the use of the building.
Ms. Huerta announced her appreciation to Lindsey Edwards and Physicians Health Choice for
donation the Wii for the winners of the Christmas tree decorating contest. Mary Ann Mondragon,
Lindale Senior Center Supervisor, mentioned that during her Site Council meeting it was mentioned
that next year maybe the trees should be labeled after the judging so everyone could know what
center decorated which tree. Ms. Huerta suggested possibly putting like a winning ornament or ribbon
to distinguish the winning tree from all the other trees.
Monica Escamilla, Oveal Williams Senior Center Supervisor, stated that she liked that the bingo was
done at different times, it was not just one continuous session. She also announced that she had
many seniors compliment the D.J. from the Holiday Dinner. They liked how it was a verity of music
not just the same type of music.
Lindsey Edwards mentioned that maybe next year the committee could start earlier in looking for
donations to cut down the expenses. She stated that there are many people and businesses who
want to donate items it's just a matter of asking.
