Minutes from the January 12, 2012 meeting were handed out for review. The minutes were approved and
a motion was made by Mr. Savoy and seconded by Mrs. Martinez to approve the minutes. The motion was
unanimously approved.
10- Broadmoor Special Events Comm ittee:
Mickey Reyna, member of the Special Events Committee from Broadmoor Senior Center invited all LCSS
members to the Valentines Dance and Cake walk from 1 pm-5pm on February 9, 2012
Po. Finalize March Retreat Plan:
The LCSS annual Retreat will b8 held March 1 Garden Senior Center from 12:B0p.rn.-5:08p.m.
The 1 /2dgy retreat will start with a luncheon. The UCGG Strategic Plan for 201U-2O15 will bereviewed
and updated. A motion was made by Mrs. Martinez and seconded by M[s. Garza to host the retreat at the

Garden Center. The motion was unanimously approved.

Ms. Munoz reported that the first installment of the Elderly Nutrition Program (ENP)grant was $86.000.
The Texas Department 0f Agriculture Texans Feeding Texans grant started February 1, 2012. Funds will
be used 03 enhance the Meals on Wheels Program with the $170.000 award. This amount reflects on
increase from last year. This funding will be scheduled for City Council approval to accept the grant and
appropriate funds in February 2012. Mr. Savoy made a motion and K8[8. Goncg seconded it. The nnOUOn
was UDaDiO00u8|y approved.
111 Review 6 Month SummapL on utrition Sites (Northwest— Oveal Williams; Broadmoor and
Ms. Munoz stated that there |s concern about low census levels @\ our 19 hour sites. Nutrition Site
members have said that due to decreased hours the membership has decreased also. The numbers are
low at Senior Centers. We have also had t0 eliminate o nnuba on the Home Delivered K4eo|8 Program. We
are removing clients due bo annual assessment reviews and vve are not placing new clients on the
program due t0 the waiting list. For example, when B0J8d[D0or Center re-opened after the 12-14month
renovation hiatus there were about 5Omembers attending. Now the average census is2O members 8day.
Ms. Oliver will bring the census Of all centers t0 the next meeting. Ms. Munoz posed the quHetiDn." Are vue
keeping up with the demands from the seniors?" The 85 + population have increased but where are they?
These are issues that should b8 addressed 8t the retreat.
10 Relocation of SCS Administrative Offices:
SCS Administrative Offices are moving to the Floorof City Hall in the Park and Recreation Department
SUd8m. Engineering and Planning are relocation to the SCS suites. The Recreation and Athletics Divisions
are moving to Heritage Park along with RSVP and SCP.

Funding and Resource & Special Events:
Ms. Munoz conducted a comprehensive overview on the 2012 SCS Master Calendar as distributed. All
members were asked to review the document and advise staff of any recommended edits. Sub-committee
members will be meeting to plan the March for Meals event and to include a fundraising initiative to
address the current waiting list. The annual Mayor for Meals March is scheduled on Wednesday, March
21, 2012. Updates to the Master calendar will be presented at each LCSS meeting.
Program Operations Subcommittee:,
Mr. Lewis reports that the sub-committee will be soliciting feedback from Senior Centers regarding
concerns about fee-based activities. Program Operations along with Program Evaluations will seek input
to determine where members stand on this issue. The committee will review this at the March meeting,
Program Evaluation Subcommittee:
Mrs. Martinez reviewed the following report:
January Comment Cards Summary
Total Received 17
Total Satisfied 13
Total Dissatisfied 4
General reviews: Food is really good. Happy
with recent changes. Green beans are hard
and tough. No complaints on Facilities.
Broadmoor Senior Center had no
survey/comment cards.
The Program Evaluation subcommittee is planning to visit the Senior Centers and seek input from active
members and those who don't attend on a regular basis for insight into levels of participation. The
committee will contact Senior Center Supervisors and schedule appointments.
The Committee has come up with some questions to ask members when they visit with them. Ms. Munoz
urges the Program Evaluation Committee to take the lead and coordinate a community Town Hall type
meeting to solicit feedback from people who aren't attending the centers as to why and how they can be
attracted to attend the centers and how we can improve, Each LCSS member needs to attend at least one
or two of these town hall meetings.
10- SCS Division Program Report:
Will review report at next meeting.
No- Items to be placed on the next agenda:
There will be a full agenda for the March Retreat.
► Old Business: Annual Report: There were no updates. The report will stand as submitted.
ll► Public Comment: Mr. Savoy stated that the Assistant City Manager reported they will now be
accepting bids for the Ethel Eyerly restroom expansion. A question was raised as to where the money was
coming from and Ms. Oliver explained that it was from a proposed Community Development Block Grant
fund.
