HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Leadership Committee For Senior Services - 05/04/2017 Leadership Committee for Senior Services (LCSS) Meeting Minutes Thursday, May 4, 2017 Northwest Senior Center ►The meeting was called to order at 3:40 pm by D. Villagran, LCSS Chairperson. ►Roll Call Roll Call was conducted by T. Garcia. Members present: G. Bryant, E. Flores,T. Garcia, D. Villagran, P. Obrien, S. Fierro,J. Garcia,W. Hardeman, P. Lewis, M. Hansen, G. Berry, and E. Bell Members absent: M. Zhao (Excused),Yvonne Recio, and K. Heslip. ►Approval of Minutes The meeting minutes from the April 6, 2017 were approved by G. Bryant, second by P. O'Brien. All were in favor. None opposed. ►New Business A. Special Events Committee Selection Update-G. Berry agreed to be assigned to Chair of the Development/special events sub-committee. P. O'Brien agreed to be assigned to Chair of the Program Operations sub-committee.There was discussion of the correct locations of scheduled LCSS meetings. B. LCSS Committee member vacancy- N/A C. Committee Development: Role of Subcommittees-There was discussion of the meeting arrangements of the sub-committees for the summer. D. Proposed By-Law Review- D. Villagran said there would be a proposed bylaw review on the next meeting agenda. ►LCSS Subcommittee Session/Project Status Report A. Development&Special Events—S. Fierro reported on the special events calendar and possible fundraisers such as a talent show or fashion show. It was reported that the special events committees would be addressed as the committees are selected. B. Program Evaluation—M. Hansen made comments for the program education committee regards the comment cards. She said most cards made references/complaints regards the food. C. Program Operations—P. O'Brien reported that there would be an accreditation update soon. There was discussion of the Senior Companion program. ►SCS Division program updates A. General highlights—N/A B. Senior center operations—H. Lara gave an update on building remodels and maintenance. He also gave an employment update and said that Lindale had a new lead- Maggie Medrano who is very capable and qualified.There is a recent opening for a staff assistant at Zavala. He said there were 25 volunteers who turned in 98 hours of service at the centers for April. He also reported 41 new members for April. C. Program performance reviews/Nutrition Program Operations— N/A ►Items for next Agenda None. ►Public comments None. ►Adjournment • The meeting adjourned at 4:21 pm.
