Garden Senior Center 5325 Greely, Corpus Christi, Texas 78412 Meeting Minutes Call to order at 3:31 p.m. by Patrica O'Brien, Chairperson. Roll call was conducted by Theresa Garcia. Present: Patricia O'Brien, Theresa Garcia, Peggy Lewis, Monica Hansen, Ginger Bryant, Katherine Heslip, John Meehleib, Pamela Greene and Sara Savilde. Staff present: Lisa Oliver, Brittany De Leon and Ninfa Chavera. II. Approval of minutes A. February 7, 2019 —tabled B. March 7, 2019 — Motion to approve as presented made by Ginger Bryant, 2d Sara Salvide, all approved. III. New business and Possible Action A. Status of Vacancies — Discussion held as to remaining vacancies and recruitment of new members. LCSS brochures were distributed for members to use in recruitment effort. B. Presentation: Harbor Bridge Project Update — Presentation conducted by Lorette Williams with Flatlron Dragados. IV. Old Business A. None V. LCSS Subcommittee Reports A. Special Events - Ginger Bryant reported on upcoming events. May is Older Americans Month. A Casino Night is scheduled for May 24, 2019 at Joe Garza Gym. Sponsorships will be secured. Additional details to follow. B. Program Evaluation — John Meehleib stated no comment cards had been received to review. The flag issue discussed at last month's meeting is still pending. C. Fund Development— Patricia O'Brien reported the committee will explore options for fund development. One suggestion is to host a Concert with ticket proceeds to benefit the senior programs. Peggy Lewis will take the lead to research entertainment. VI. Senior Program updates A. Elderly Nutrition Program — Lisa Oliver informed committee that Connie Reschman, Nutrition Coordinator, retired March 30th. The Elderly Nutrition Program Grant renewal is in progress for FY 20. Staff also received notification from the Meals on Wheels America Association of a grant award in the amount of$6,562.72 for complying with the Subaru Share the Love Campaign. Ginger Bryant was recognized for her efforts in supporting staff with this project. B. Senior Center Operations - Brittany DeLeon • Guest Speaker Guideline Form has been reviewed with staff; highlight of center activities provided. • Maintenance at Lindale Center completed; Broadmoor center will have maintenance project done in April; followed by gutter project at Greenwood, then Garden Center. • 2018 Bond Projects Update — Garden and Oveal Williams Center will have roof replacements • Centers data: 42 new members; 562 active (unduplicated) members (all sites) VII.
