Meeting Minutes
Call to order at 3:35 p.m. by Patrica O'Brien, Chairperson. Roll call was conducted by Theresa Garcia. Present:
Patricia O'Brien, Theresa Garcia, Ginger Bryant, Katherine Heslip, John Meehleib, Monica Hansen, Pamela
Greene, Peggy Lewis, and Denise Villagran. Absent: Sara Salvide and Meng Zhao. Staff present: Lisa Oliver and
Brittany De Leon.
II. Approval of minutes
A. May 2, 2019— 1St Ginger Bryant, 2nd Denise Villagran, all approved.
III. New business and Possible Action
A. Status of Vacancies— Recruitment of new members discussed.
IV. Old Business
A. None
V. LCSS Subcommittee Reports
A. Special Events— Ninfa Chavera reported on the Forever Young Celebration on June 26, 2019 at the
Garden Senior Center. Update given on the Casino Night event on July 27th at the Greenwood
Senior Center. Volleyball Tournament will hosted on August 23, 2019 at the Northwest Senior
Center. Casino Night update provided; overall successful event, very good attendance.
Improvements noted for next Casino Night.
B. Program Evaluation —John Meehleib and Monica Hansen summarized the Comment Card feedback.
Positive comments on the Tai Chi class from Matter of Balance Program. Kudos to staff on the Beat
the Heat program. Safety issue regarding door closure reported and staff will follow up. Suggested
dietician to conduct presentation at the centers on portions served.
C. Program Operations— Patricia reported the Special Events Committees at the senior center's terms
are due for renewal. Brittany will coordinate the timeline and distribute to senior centers.
D. Fundraising Committee— Patricia stated the committee will meet during the month of July.
VI. Senior Program updates
A. Elderly Nutrition Program— Lisa Oliver
• Summer Food Service Program begins June 10-August 2, 2019.
• Staff Update: Kitchen Lead to be filled soon; Nutrition Coordinator position to be posted.
B. Senior Center Operations- Brittany DeLeon
• Senior Centers Special Event calendar distributed.
• New Suggestion Boxes have been ordered and distributed to all sites for the comment cards.
• Center data report provided.
• Update provided on senior center improvements. Vandalism repairs are also being addressed at
two sites, Broadmoor and Oveal Williams.
• Programming: New games introduced at sites; will offer different programs this summer.

1. Presentation by Dietician to LCSS
2. Update on ADA doors

ix. Adjournment at 4:30 p.m.— Motion made by Peggy Lewis and seconded by Ginger Bryant. All approved.
