Library Board Meeting
September 12, 2012

Call to Order
Mr. Jordan, Pro tem Chair, called the meeting to order at 1:22 p.m.
Approval of Minutes
Motion for approval of the minutes of August 8, 2012 was made by Dr. Garza and seconded by Mrs.
Sewell. It passed unanimously.
Friends of Library
None
Director's Report
Mrs. Garcia reported that the dedication of the Ben F. McDonald Public Libraiv (formerly Greenwood
Libraiv) which houses the Vella and Joe De Leon Children's Libraiv is scheduled for Saturday,
September 22 at 10 a.m. Dr. Garza stated that members of both families will be present and Nelda
Martinez will be representing the city council. The following will be taking part in the ribbon cutting:
McDonald and De Leon family members, libraiv board members, Herb Canales and the individual saying
the invocation.
Dr. Garza added that on Sunday, September 23r actor Pepe Serna will have a program on improv acting.
Martin Middle School students have been invited to participate; however, the program is open to other
students. The program will be filmed therefore, release forms must be signed.
Mrs. Garcia reported that Dr. Elovitz, Mr. Flores, and Mrs. Rogen are eligible for reappointment in
November. Mrs. Rogen stated she would get back with staff after she verifies with Friend's President.
New Business
Motion was made by John Keys and seconded by Natalie Rogen to excuse Mr. Altheide and Dr.
Elovitz from last month's meeting. Motion passed unanimously.

Meeting adjourned at 1:44 p.m. and libraiv tour proceeded.
