Library Board Meeting
March 13, 2013

Call to Order
Mr. John Kevs called the meeting to order at 1:16 p.m.
Approval of Minutes
Motion for approval of the minutes of March 13, 2013 was made by Dr. Stuart Elovitz and second by
Roberta Sewell with the following change: Mrs. Rogen made a motion to elect John Keys as Board Chair
and second by Mrs. Sewell. Motion passed unanimously.
Friends of Library
None.
Director's Report
Mrs. Garcia reported that the Owen R. Hopkins Public Libraiv rededication is scheduled for Saturday,
April 20, at 9:00 a.m. Board members were informed to email Sylvia Sanchez to confirm their attendance
to make sure names are added to the program. The ceremonies will be approximately forty five minutes.
There will be children and adult programming outside and inside the libraiv. A children's program will
be presented by Geoffrey Hopkins. The libraiv signage will be installed next week.
Mrs. Garcia added that staff would work with Mrs. MacLachlan on getting foot prints painted on the
sidewalk. Mrs. MacLachlan stated she would get designs and information on materials needed for the
project.
A motion was made by Mrs. Sewell and second by Mrs. Donahue to appoint a committee to draft the
Libraiv Board by -laws. Mr. Altheide and Mr. Kevs will serve on the committee. Motion passed
unanimously.
New Business
Motion was made by Mrs. Donahue and seconded by Mrs. Sewell to excuse Cat MacLachlan,
Paul Altheide and John Keys from February's meeting. Motion passed unanimously.
Mr. Kevs distributed a letter for the board to sign. The letter is addressed to Amanda and Ken Kellar
thanking them for their generous donation to the libraiv. The funds will be used for children's
programming. Mr. Altheide reported that Mr. & Mrs. Kellar provided an additional $15,000 to Ed Rachal
Foundation to be distributed through a grant to the Friends of Corpus Christi Public Libraiv.
