MINUTES
LIBRARY BOARD OF THE
CORPUS CHRISTI PUBLIC LIBRARIES
June 9,2003
MEMBERS PRESENT: Yvonne Kylstra,Patty Nuss, Treva Bedwell, Mary Ann McGregor,
Charles Burnes,Margaret Moss,Dr. Thomas Cron,Reynaldo Rodriquez and Friends President,
Ken Kellar.
STAFF PRESENT: Laura Garcia,Public Service Manager and Sylvia Sanchez,Executive
Secretary.
Minutes from the May 15,2003 meeting were approved with the following change: Dr.Thomas
Cron was present.
Mrs. Krylstra called the meeting to order at 1:15 p.m.
BUILDING COMMITTEE:
1. Mrs. Kylstra reported that the Building Committee has met with the architect and preliminary
plans are being prepared.
FRIENDS REPORT:
1. Mr.Kellar reported that Friends newsletter had been mailed.
2. Mr. Kellar reported that Friends are working on grants to The Coastal Bend Community
Foundation and The Trull Foundation. Mr. Kellar added that Friends are working on having
a local author presentation for September.
DIRECTOR'S REPORT:
1. Mrs. Garcia reported that the summer reading program was a great success.
2. Mrs. Garcia reported that South Texas Ghost Story programs will be held at Central on
August 16'" and at Northwest library on August 9".
3. Mrs. Garcia invited the board to visit the Children's area to review some of the suggestions
the building committee would suggest to the architect.
OLD BUSINESS:
None.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. The board approved not to meet next month.
The meeting adjourned at 2:20 pm.
