COY SECRETARY'S OFFICE
MEMBERS PRESENT: Mary Christmas, Lucy McCracken,Janey Cone,
Dr. A.N.M. Waheeduzzaman,Barbara Silverman, Rey Rodriguez, Sue Stanford,
Joyce Green, Andrea Naismith, and Sam Beecroft.
STAFF PRESENT: Herb Canales, Library Director and Lea Zapata, Management
Assistant
Meeting was called to order by Mary Christmas at 1:15 p.m.
Minutes from the November 14,2006,meeting were approved.
BUILDING COMMITTEE:
1. Mr. Canales passed around the list of members on each of the building
committees.
2. Ms. Naismith requested to be taken off the Southside Building Committee.
3. Ms. Naismith made a motion for Barbara Silverman and Mary Christmas to
Co-chair the Parkdale Building Committee. Ms. Green seconded the motion, and
it was approved by all.
4. Northwest renovation is scheduled to be completed by this summer. It is still
within budget. The only item still not funded is the overlay of the parking lot. We
still have a little over$40,000 in contingency funding. We have$150,000
budgeted for furnishings. The Building Committee should meet in February to
finalize the furniture list.
5. The Southside Building Committee will meet on February 6,2007, at 1:30 p.m.
The architect and engineers met yesterday.
6. John and Bibi Dykema have been chosen as the architects for the Parkdale
project. We are now only$12,000 shy of one million dollars for the project. Last
month we received$100,000 from Jeff Bell. We have earned$40,000 in interest.
The money will be appropriated on January 15, 2007.
7. Ms. McCracken made a motion to place Mr. Beecroft on the Parkdale Building
Committee. Ms. Silverman seconded the motion, and it was approved by all.
8. In regards to the Greenwood Branch Library,we are going to put a 4 million
preliminary plan for the next bond election, possibly in 2008.
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY:
1. CC Reads will be showing the film Pay It Forward here in the La Retama Room
on January 20, 2007. They are continuing to organize reading groups.
2. Friends is continuing to support the Children's Book Festival. It is geared toward
3 and 4 year olds.
DIRECTOR'S REPORT: SCANNED
1. We are continuing to bring the Southside project online.

1. None.
PUBLIC COMMENTS:
1. Mr. Leon Moyer of Colorado spoke in regards to the proper posting of meeting
agendas and the policies regarding censorship on the computers. He also had a
complaint about the Greenwood Branch Library allegedly shutting down
computers early on the previous Saturday evening.

1. None.
