CITY SECRETARY'S OFFICE
MEMBERS PRESENT: Andrea Naismith,Barbara Silverman,Rey Rodriguez,
Sue Stanford, Lucy McCracken, Sam Beecroft, and Joyce Green.
STAFF PRESENT: Laura Garcia, Public Services Manager and Lea Zapata,
Management Assistant
Meeting was called to order by Andrea Naismith at 1:15 p.m.
Joyce Green made a motion to approve the minutes from the June 12, 2007, meeting.
Lucy McCracken seconded the motion and it was approved by all.
DIRECTOR'S REPORT:
1. Laura Garcia presented an option to do a tour of the Northwest Branch Library
within the next two weeks if the Library Board would like. The opening has been
pushed back until October due to inclement weather. The final walkthrough by
the architect and contractor will be after Labor Day.
2. The Southside contract should be finalized and approved next week.
3. The Parkdale Branch Library bid opening will be on August 22, 2007. We were
just informed by John Dykema that we cannot have a residential elevator in a
commercial building.
OLD BUSINESS:
1. None.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Ms. McCracken made a motion to excuse Dr. A.N.M. Waheeduzzaman for
medical reasons. Ms. Green seconded the motion, and it was approved by all.
2. Ms. McCracken made a motion to accept Ms. Green's resignation from the
Library Board and Southside Building Committee. Barbara Silverman seconded
the motion, and it was approved by all.
3. Sam Beecroft made a motion to reinstate the previous nominating committee to
suggest an individual to fill Ms. Green's position. Rey Rodriguez seconded the
motion, and it was approved by all.
4. Mr. Beecroft made a motion that the Library Board accept the choice of the
nominating committee for Ms. Green's position to then be appointed by the City
Council. Ms. McCracken seconded the motion, and it was approved by all.
The meeting adjourned at 1:44 p.m.
