The grand re-opening for the Northwest Branch Library will be on October 6, 2007; at 11 a.m. Northwest has been closed as of September 10, 2007 to relocate. The staff is currently putting up shelves and furniture. There will be another news release regarding the move and re-opening. 2. We will meet with Corpus Christi I.S.D. to schedule a groundbreaking after October 6, 2007. The figures for the Southside library have been looked over. We had a$370,000 general fund appropriation in July. The Prichard Foundation gave $20,000, and$55,000 was given from Library Foundation National Endowment for the Humanities fund. We are currently at 72% of our goal. There probably will not be any money in the bond fund to purchase books. The architect said $85,000 will not be enough for furniture. They say we need at least$125,000 due to all the bids coming in over expectations. 3. The bid opening for Parkdale was last Wednesday, September 5, 2007. The low bid was from Van Fleet Construction out of Kingsville at $732,000. John Dykema is putting papers together for the project. We have over$1,040,000 currently. The bid alternates are to bring the windows up to wind storm standards for$58,000 and for an elevator for$42,000. Currently we have$75,000 allotted for furnishings. We are hoping for the City Council will award the bid on October 9, 2007. 4. The Corpus Christi Public Libraries are getting close to having 200 computer workstations. Ken and Amanda Kellar are donating the money for software to track computer usage. 5.
