DIRECTOR'S REPORTS:
1. The invitations for the Parkdale Branch Library groundbreaking and the news
release have gone out. Friends of Corpus Christi Public Libraries will make
Ben McDonald, the mayor during the opening of Parkdale, an honorary life
member. Parkdale currently has $75,000 budgeted for furniture.
2. The invitation to the Clif Moss Education Center opening is being printed. Fifty-
one invitations will be hand delivered to those who purchased a bird on Dinah
Bowman's map.
3. We do not know the timeframe for the 2008 bond election. Previously bond
elections have run concurrent with the general election. We are looking into
whether or not the Greenwood Branch Library is fixable and expandable. We are
hoping for a$5 million bond to expand Greenwood to approximately 4000 square
feet.
4. We received $25,000 from Beverley Wallace and family for the Southside
Library. It is yet to be decided what will be purchased with the donation to go
with the marine science theme.
OLD BUSINESS:
1. We still have 2 vacancies for the Library Board, and there are no current
applications on file.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Corpus Christi Reads will once again apply for The Big Read in February. The
book chosen for this year is The Maltese Falcon.
2. Lucy McCracken made a motion to excuse Dr. Waheeduzzaman from today's
proceedings due to illness. Sam Beecroft seconded the motion, and it was
approved by all.
