HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Marina Advisory Committee - 03/04/2019MINUTES Regular Meeting Marina Advisory Committee Monday, March 4, 2019 Members Present: Mona Baen, William McDowell, Ron Smith, Hal Suter, Gerry Morrow, Martha Avery, Donnell Laux, Robyn Cobb, Richard Bell Members Absent: none Staff Present: Gina Sanchez, Marina Superintendent; Cherie Gutierrez, Management Assistant Call to Order: Ms. Sanchez called the regular meeting of the Marina Advisory Committee to order at 5:30 p.m. Action on Minutes: The motion was made by Mr. McDowell and seconded by Mr. Smith to approve the minutes of the 12/03/18 regular meeting; the motion passed unanimously. Presentations and/or Public Comment: none Discussion Items and Possible Action Thereto: Introduction of New Committee Members: Ms. Sanchez introduced new committee members Mr. Bell, Ms. Cobb, and Mr. Laux. All committee members gave a brief introduction. Elect New Chairman and Vice Chairman: Ms. Avery made the motion for Mr. McDowell to become Chairman, Mr. Laux seconded. Mr. Bell made the motion for Ms. Avery to be Vice Chairman, Ms. Cobb seconded. Each motion passed unanimously. Hurricane Harvey Damage Repair Update: Ms. Sanchez advised new docks and finger piers are being manufactured and should be ready for install by April or May. Etchells World Sailing Championship: Ms. Sanchez expressed the Marina's excitement at assisting the Corpus Christi Yacht Club with hosting the championship in June. Mr. Bell advised that registration for the event is coming along as expected. Committee/Staff Reports: none Director's Report: Ms. Sanchez advised the Marina received submittals for the RFI for La Nina. Ms. Sanchez has been updating and revising Marina Ordinances with the City Legal Department. The committee will have final approval before the ordinances go to City Council. The Lawrence Street boaters' facility has a new roof and Peoples Street roof will be replaced in a couple of years. Marina staff is working on winter maintenance projects including demolition of Morf pier. The Ed Rochelle Foundation purchased a Sea Bin for the Marina; the Marina has donations for two more. Ms. Sanchez submitted a grant for Texas A & M University Corpus Christi to conduct a study to monitor the ecological impact of the Sea Bin. Solid Waste Department donated six new trash containers that were placed on Cooper's Alley. Ms. Sanchez and the committee scheduled the retreat for March 23`d Identify Items to be placed on Next Agenda: Morf pier update, future subcommittees, and overview of the retreat.
